i thought i had missed the flop horribly but put a little money in to hopefully just scare people off. didnt even see the gutshot straight, then it hit me when the 9 came out. i did a double take to make sure i wasnt reading the cards wrong.

i didnt bet bigger on the river because i wasnt sure if the villian would call. it took him forver to call the .75 cents i threw out there, any more and he might have just laid it down. trying to maximize the win on this hand paid off although im not sure how much more he would have called. if i knew he'd call all in, i would have done it in a split second.

I probably go 90 cents on river. Rest seems fine.

PFR QTo from MP is marginal IMO. I usually only play that hand on CO if button is tight, or button. I think QJo or QJs is probably my minimum opening hand from MP.

would you limp in with QTo from MP?

NEVER open-limp.

I know I am wont to say "there is no never in poker," and that's true here, too. But for now, until you know why you would open-limp you never should open-limp.

And by the way, "my hand isn't strong enough to raise," isn't a reason to open-limp. Actually, its a reason to fold.

I don't open limp. I very rarely cold call now too. I was losing money cold calling when I played 30/20.

I think limping button or cutoff is pretty gross 99% of the time.

open limping can be okay sometimes, you need a few great reasons to do so though.

(1) Raising QTo from that spot is a mistake, because the probability that a better hand is waiting behind You is far above 50%! And to make things worse, if a better hand is waiting behind You, some of these hands are dominating You.

(2) At these limits, with 2 players in the hand, You will never be able to scare everyone away. I would suggets to simply do value betting. So, if You didn't hit the flop, check, and if You hit, bet for value. There's no need for bluffing at these limits and in the long run, You will loose money with these kind of bluffs in these limits. This time, You were just lucky. But it will not happen that often in the long run!

any good links for the determination of value betting? i normally just pull a number out of my butt that sounds good, high enough to make the weak draws fold but low enough i dont end up pot committed and then dont make my hand. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
