This is really, really great, and nicely describes a large chunk of my thoughts on why human beings are bred for cooperation.

Funny how the 1st thing Dawkins says is how some people mistakingly think his work justifies support for a completly free market and capitalism.

No need to watch a 45 min video, just read through this: Prisoner's Dilemma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner's_dilemma)

I am very interested in this subject but i can't get the video to open on my computer. What do I do? I think my settings might be too restrictive or something but not sure, the area where the video is supposed to open is just blank with an X in the top left corner. Any advice?

I could be wrong, but I will lay 3:2 that he doesn't actually say this. He says that people used his theory to attempt to justify everything from extreme socialism to extreme capitalism. He doesn't actually comment on the correctness of the application to capitalism.

In any even, Dawkins is definitely a statist, you can tell from a brief aside in The Ancestor's Tale. However, it's pretty clear that he has never really studied praxeology, so I don't blame him.

Please don't bring AC into this. Dawkins is an evolutionary scientist, and he applies his studies on game theory and economics to evolution, not modern politics.

When I was watching it, I was thinking that the 'suckers' elect and empower grudgers to enforce a sense of justice they couldn't do on their own. Then once the cooperators hit the critical mass he talked about - they would no longer need the grudgers (state).

I'm not sure how I would have seen it if someone else made the OP, but it was a great video nonetheless.

Well good. Most people did not read The Selfish Gene and/or horrendously misinterpreted its premise. I'm glad he made that video to clear it up. He should be proud of it.
