American Poker Freedom at Muffmoney.com".

"One of America's biggest companies is buying up the crippled offshore casino operators - why? Online gambling is illegal isn't it? This is so transparent -destroy non-US online casinos, wait a couple of years, lobby for regulation and voila - US based online casinos owned by US companies and taxed in the US. It is clever, but illegal protectionism and of course highly unethical and it is messing with people's rights in the meantime, making criminals of ordinary citizens."

WPT already has a foreign only casino operating in the USA. Regulation is obviously needed, not prohibition.

The Economist had an article about that last month. The new bill destroys the lofty market values of established online poker rooms. American casinos can now buy them cheaply and operate them for non-US citizens. They then lobby to get poker in the US legalised and make a killing. In this way the road to legal online poker relies on first making it illegal.
