Here's an example of a hand villain played an orbit ago (villain is UTG+1):

Flop: 5/images/graemlins/club.gif 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif A/images/graemlins/club.gif ($3.25, 3 players)

<font color="#cc0000">UTG+1 bets $17.5</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Button calls all-in $17.4</font>.
Uncalled bets: $0.1 returned to UTG+1.

Results:
Final pot: $48.05
UTG+1 showed Qc 5c
Button showed AK

So now, the hand in question.. I fold for a long time, and finally pick up JJ vs him.

Is he the kind of maniac that slows down when you raise him? If so, I like your line. If not I reraise preflop and hope he shoves over me.

No one's ever raised him (that I've seen), but I assume he would.

Actually, I've seen quite a few that don't stop until somebody's all in and can't fold anymore, assuming the reraise is somebody playing back at them (very reasonable thought, really).

So we should reraise flop and hope he has like a 76 hand?

You have a strong hand but it's still just an overpair. Would hate to see an ace hit the river. CRAI on turn.

Check/calling against a maniac is pretty EV+ IMO. I would definitely "note" him for the pot-sized bluffs.

Prefer to push the turn.

I'd be happier getting another bet out of him - especially pot sized ones. Despite the overcards he could if you dont put him on the ace.

I don't think it was too badly played.

I tend to get a bit trigger happy on the turn with an overpair because I don't like tough river decisions...

Villain had KK and was ahead the whole hand. Oops. Figured this was an okay line vs a random maniac though.
