Did I totally overplay my hand here on the flop? Really confused as to what the correct play is here.

I think you played it correctly, you're only beat by 55 on the flop and if he has it you got hit with a cold deck pretty hard. Nothing you can do.

You have the third nuts. No reason to do anything but get as much money into the pot as you can on this flop.

go broke here all day. you'll see lower 8s/weak overpairs all day.

Personally, I wouldn't call a minraise with A8 suited from the CO, you can get into too much trouble. There's no way I'd fold this though.

You played it perfectly.

That just seems silly. You don't want to play a drawing hand cheaply with position? Where would you play it?

As for the hand, I like calling if you think you are ahead. Give the button some odds to call. He has a much bigger stack that the 2nd raiser. He is clearly willing to put some money in the pot, give him a chance.

I actually believe 55 is quite likely here, but not so much that you're going to get away from it given the SB's small stack size. I like the SB's bet size. Raise, but give everyone a chance to call.

I try to play 18/15, so there's not much I'll cold call preflop.

I'd probably play it the same. Hopefully the BB was not playing 55 and had an overpair like 99.
