Given how much outside poker i had on in October I'd be happy just to try and play more poker (especially more 6max). Also as an added thing getting more hands posted and contributing more to 2+2.

Get back in da game!

After dumping Party, complete the move to Stars. Get the mod set up, get whatever helper software is out there (a la PartyPlanner), and get back up to 9-tabling again!

Get at least a few thousand hands in; have something to show for the Weekend Happy Threads.

And after reading Tien's awesome 6max post, I may even give that a whirl again this month.

Not really in any special order..

#) stop getting involved in hands i would fold preflop in BB just because no one raised.
#) start doing some schoolwork
#) continue calling desperate bets on the river with BP /images/graemlins/wink.gif
#) manage 4 tabeling, get stressed with more than 3 atm
#) stop trying to get muppets to lay down weak hands by bluffing, it doesnt work.
#) build a proper stack for 100nl, 10-15 buyins should do it.
#) Play some MTT's?
#) Not throw away my stack on tilt... (yeah, like thats gonna happen)

30,000 hands.
Back up to NL100.
Take notes at the table, less autopilot more stopping and thinking. Maybe i look crazy, but if i talk the hand out loud, i usually get it right..."That idiot has trips, i know he has trips. I hate him, he's dumb, prolly wears a yankee cap and a puka shell necklace. Damn I wanna bust him...but I fold my overpair. I'm beat." I can fold, sometimes, I know I can.
Review my sessions.
Post. Became a caring and giving member of the community.
Suck out just once, and then a zillion times more.
Break 100 million on my pinball machine...quit whining that theres no way to support myself off pinball.

- start to play on more tables (play on 2 now, want to make it 4 by the end of the year)
- take a shot at NL100, if I feel confident and with the proper roll
- reply to more hands (or other threads) on 2+2
- THINK before I act on a hand
- keep up the upswing of the last week

Last month was my first honest stab at NL cash games, and only managed about 7000 hands (3-4 tabling; I'm used to 6-tabling low-limit Hold'em).

Considering I only have two free hours a night to play poker, my goals are more modest.

* Continue to read the micro forums for advice for 15 minutes every day.
* Finish Phil Gordon's Blue Book.
* Re-Read NLHE:T&P.
* Play another 10K hands of NL$25, to see if my luck can hold out. (I ran well in October.)
* Continue to make stabs at NL$50 (I'm rolled for it, but lack the confidence/gamble to play a hand for $50).

Rochus
10-31-2006, 06:34 PM
I ended October up $121,76 at 10NL, played 6k hands and ran at 10.37PTBB/100. Should have been a LOT more if it I didn't get two 6 buy-in downswings due to really varience (set vs overset 3x on one day, losing aces vs kings twice, moving in with nut straight on flop to get someone runner/runner flush you etc. you get the idea).

November Goals:

1) Play +10k hands
2) make 200-400$
3) Move up to 25NL permanently
4) Run at +10ptbb/100 at these [censored] easy levels
5) Post/Grunch more @ 2+2
6) Improve my game as much as possible

- Keep sessions short so I keep my focus. All of my 2 buy-in + losing sessions this month came from sessions longer than 2 hours.

- Relax. they'll hand over the money eventually, subject to the first point.

- Keep looking for more +EV situations without going back to pushing everything.

- Keep posting and reading. Not sure about submitting hands yet though.

- Perhaps take a shot or two at NL$50. Depends on how much of my historic debt to NL$25 gets cleared.

- Keep my weekly dealers choice buddies convinced that it's mostly all luck. It's getting harder to do.

Anyone willing to admit to the progress/lack thereof they've made on their goals?

I'm still running at 12PTBB/100 hands at NL$25; and I'm still taking shots at NL$50. I think I might be ready to finally move there permanently by the end of the month after I fixed some of my weak/passive preflop play (which seems to be remarkably profitable and hard to read at NL$25). And I'm only halfway through re-reading NLH:T&P.

My two hours a day is rapidly being eaten up by an Xbox 360 and numerous electrical problems in the basement (router blew up this afternoon, so I'm typing this from my wife's Jurassic era PC.) Xbox Live = -EV.

Well I've only got a total of 1500 hands for the month, I need 4000 to get to 6000, that ain't gonna happen. Plus I'm running bad, I'm running at -9bb/100 for the month. Thanks to these hands:

Trip Ts with a 7 kicker versus a maniacs Ts full of 9s for $19. Made a bad read got it all in with 6s and 5s versus a 9 high straight for $14. 2 overs plus a draw at the nut flush to the flopped nut set, so I got it all in with only to 8 outs instead of 15 for $10. And a couple more that I won't bore you with.

I've been pretty busy and playing some tournaments so, I guess I'll get cash game hands when I get them.

K my goal was to move up to $25nl make $300+ in winnings, and play 13k hands.
Well I moved up but my winrate is only 1,5ptbb/100, I play 2 10nl tables and 2 25nl tables though and my winrate at 10nl is 20ptbb/100 so I'm ok. And thank god for the bonus money that will make sure I get $300 this month. Overall I seem to do ok now with 25nl, and something like 8ptbb/100 isn't impossible for next month, I still believe I was simply unlucky in the big hands.

i cant even fathom playing 6 tables at once, let alone anymore than that. i play two at MAX, sometimes three but that is usually by accident and i was playing all three of the .10 cent $50 added tourneys they offered everyday at stars.

speaking of, i havent seen any lately, did they ditch them? i see $1.00 tourneys now but none of those wonderful .10 cent $50 added ones.

I'm simplifying mine...keep learning. All else will follow.

During my breakeven streak I doubted myself, cried myself to sleep and thought about getting a job. I cursed the gods and swore everything was unfair. Then I finally retooled my game...studied, thought, and after a few months here in NL it finally is really clicking (not the 'I'm running good so I must be great type'...the real kind).

I've gotten so much better this month thanks to the posters here. I'll buy you all a drink if you're ever in New Orleans.
