Last night when I went to sleep after a poker-free day, I thought of stuff - mostly because I couldn't sleep. Things that press me and things that I think many players in this forum (especially uNL and maybe SSNL) must realize and think about. So here goes...

<u>Remember who and where you are!</u>
We all are at the Micro stakes for separate reasons. We come here to learn for different reasons as well. Some players are just starting out and some have been here since the wheel was invented. I guess, most of this stuff is directed to the latter half of the equation.

We are all here for a reason. The reason for us who have spent more time than we should here often includes problems Managing the Highs and Lows (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Board=beats&amp;Number=6623548&amp;Main =6623548&amp;Words=Managing+Vammakala&amp;topic=#Post66235 48), maybe it's the lack of concentration or the lost Strain of Thought (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Number=6983225&amp;an=0&amp;page=8#Post 6983225). Some have problems Managing their Bankrolls (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Board=ssplnlpoker&amp;Number=698879 1&amp;Main=6988721).

What ever the reasons might be, the fact is that we're still here. Managing to accept that and opening your mind is a big step towards finally making it to the next level. There are some people like me who think they have it all figured out and still they manage to not make it themselves. Even though the theory is there, the practice might not be or vice versa.

<u>Open your mind to new views</u>
Key points here are to have an open mind. I see a lot of posts (amongst these are mine for sure), where the poster a) knows he made a mistake that caused him trouble later in the hand and asks to solve THAT problem or b) the poster is convinced his play is right, even though told otherwise. Oftentimes, the players are solving the wrong problem. It's all about making Good Designs to Easen decisions (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Number=6454057).

Every regular poster in this forum has lot of things to learn and accepting and understanding the advice given is more important than asking for it. Having an open mind and an objective approach to the game will help you solve these puzzles, but you have to be prepared to change. Prepared to question your views! The fact that you've been doing thing X for last 50k hands and still being a winning player doesn't mean that doing thing Y wouldn't prove out to be more profitable.

The information is out there! Part of it can be found here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Number=3239210&amp;an=0&amp;page=0#Post 3239210) and in the future, even more in here. (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Number=7758748&amp;an=0&amp;page=0#Post 7758748) The truth is out there for those brave enough to seek it!

We can all make it, it's just a matter of dedication and motivation. Afterall, we're living a Life of an Artist (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Board=ssplnlpoker&amp;Number=691135 7&amp;Main=6911357) and we go forward in baby steps. We just have to be prepare to take that leap of faith towards a better tomorrow.

Cheers!

Nice post. I too had this problem. Thought I had it all figured out, taking shots underrolled.

I just want to add that some of the poster / lurkers should definately use the search feature, or go through all the digest posts. There's like a thousands pages worth of pure gold in the old ssnl archives.

Yeah, reading through the SSNL Sticky is probably the most +EV advice any player can give to another ;]

good post, getting stuck in bad habits is a sure way to lose money and hinder good discussion
