4 preflop, raise the flop the first time, or push the second time. Also include stack sizes.

Standard betsizing is 4bb+1bb per limper.

You have good equity in this pot. Against a hilariously unlikely scenario of only sets being in their range, on the flop your equity is 36%.

I like a raise on the flop initially, to about 30, and call a push.

I definitely raise the flop bet - you've got the FD, a gutshot straight draw, and an overcard.

I'm not sure what I do if villain pushes though - I'd probably have to check poker stove and stack sizes.

My guess is that anyone that will 3-bet that type of flop is probably either way ahead or close to even with you, though. The good news is you have an ace, so you still have a chance against QQ-KK if you decide to call.

Hell, here's the numbers:

Assume you raise flop and SB pushes:

$9 in pot from preflop

action goes:
BB bets $6
you make it $18
SB pushes his last $85
we assume BB folds here

So, it's $67 to call a pot of $118, giving you 1.76:1

Pokerstove says:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 45.0704 % 45.03% 00.04% { Ad5d }
Hand 2: 54.9296 % 54.89% 00.04% { QQ+, 77, 33-22, 32s, 32o }

1.2:1

Almost even vs sets and decent overpairs

Even vs. 2pairs and sets only:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 39.2368 % 39.24% 00.00% { Ad5d }
Hand 2: 60.7632 % 60.76% 00.00% { 77, 33-22, 32s, 32o }

We're about 1.5:1, still slightly ahead

If you can ONLY put him on a set here,

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 33.8384 % 33.84% 00.00% { Ad5d }
Hand 2: 66.1616 % 66.16% 00.00% { 77, 33-22 }

around 2:1 ... so you're a bit behind.

Cliff notes: raise flop, call a shove

Not in bad position here. You have good odds with that call on the turn. Hopefully you hit on the river and will more than likely stack at least 1.

pokerbob,

I raise the action when first presented to me. We have excellent FE and pot equity here.

As played though, I just call as well. Your FE went straight down to zero with the SB check raise and BB call.

All,

SB checks, BB bets, we raise potish, SB check3bets, bb folds. Now what?

pooosh. Lets get him to fold some random overpairs to make us a +EV move.

The pot by then is what, 120ish with about 55-60 left to call? Definitely call. We aren't 2:1 dogs to his range here. We are 2:1 dog to a range of only sets, and that seems extremely highly unlikely that we are only ever up against a set here, though it is his most likely holding.
