Ok, so I've started venturing into NL cash games after doing SNG's and MTTs for the better part of the past year. Knowing that I'm not proficient yet at deep stack play, I bought in for 50BBs and it got whittled down to $16.

Anyway, back to this hand, so I flop 2nd pair and a flush draw. Given my stack size, is my lead and then shove ok??? My read on Villain is that he will raise to protect top pair and doesn't slow play his top pairs.

can this villian fold top pair, i think its an okay move if youre ready to gamble and/or think your opponent can let go of hands like k10 or kj here.

nh.

Play 25NL if you're not bankrolled to play 50NL full, though.

I don't hate it, but it's hardly standard.

Assuming no reads, when UTG raises you on the flop, your chances of being ahead are about zero, and you realistically have about 11 outs. So for this to be +EV, you're counting on a fair amount of fold equity. And given villain started UTG, and raised you on the flop, AND you're shortstacked, your fold equity is very limited IMO.

As helloimcdog said, this looks a whole lot better if you have a solid read that villain can let go of top pair, which many villains will absolutely not do here -- and for a measly 30-40BB, one could argue they are right not to.
