Guy is pretty new to the table, so no read, except that I hadn't really seen much from him. I think he raised once preflop and took it down with a CB.

Unfortunately, yes. It's easier to make marginal plays when your opponents don't buy in for full stack. In this scenario, a push seems appropriate. He could just as easily have AKo and think it's good. And if you have no reads, then you're fine with the push.
