this is the third time this has happened to today and i'm really frustrated. the first time it happened on another table i thought it was a bluff but the guy had quads. i'm so annoyed by this play because i have no idea what they have.

am i good here that often?

you know the first two times this happened to me (another villain) he had a big hand. how do i avoid losing more money than i do in those spots?

You could hardly get away at any point in this hand. This was played well.

It would be much tougher if he bet 25 on the river, or pot.

When you are using a previous hand for contextual reasons, typically you include the results.

I think you beat a much much wider range of hands in the original hand than in this quad hand. You are also getting much better odds to call on the river.

yeah i agree, i'm just checking up because the three times this happened (including that hand) they basically flopped the nuts or close and were just sucking money out of me. i'm trying to learn how to prevent that. i know the second hand is bad.

If you're a compulsive c-bettor, you must expect them to turn just plain passive in situations like those. I'm not sure if that applies to you, but keep it in mind.

Also keep a note on how villains play their monsters. Some will always turn passive, just to shove on the river. Others c/r the turn, and others again will lead out and some even often overbet the pot if there are any draws out there. There is even a rare species that will attempt a c/r on every street - even the river.
I always make a note on how villain played a flopped monster.

So, if villain who usually bets out and raises whenever he hit the board suddenly turns passive, it's time for pot control.

In hand 2 for example, it'd be a good idea to check behind on the turn for pot control. This way, villains river bet can't be that big, and - this is important from an EV point of view - induces bets from lone lower PPs or 2nd pairs.

Hand 1 looks alright to me. I wouldn't have played it differently. Except for the flop bet, maybe. Any heart won't fold here anyway, and any other weak holding will fold for a smaller bet, too. So $3.50 - $4 would've been enough.
