View Full Version : Calling All Atheists

This is a bit of a strange request, so if it is inapprorpiate mods feel free to delete it.

Basically, I want to find some sources (preferably internet, but books would also be good) that say

-God doesn't exist (either philisophically or science proves it)
-belief in god has damaging effects (of any kind, but absurd claims like it kills the economy or causes war preferred)
-if there is a god, he/she is very forgiving, and doesn't really care what we do

In addition to saying these things, articles with very hyperbolic/fiery rhetoric (basically the more absurd the better) would be best. Well explained, warranted arguments would also be good , but second best.

There seems to be a good amount of religious discussion going on here so I figured there were probably some people who could direct me to this kind of thing relatively quickly. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

No, sorry. Stefan simply has too much podcasts for that.

He does have articles (&turned to podcasts), but they're not about specifically this.

No worries. Give it a look when I'm back home.

Thanks.

Eh. Start with skepticsannotatedbible.com and jesusneverexisted.com? Honestly I don't pay much attention to moronic rhetoric, even if it happens to coincide with my position.

Haven't been home for more than a day or two and back on the road now.

Did check his CV though. It's great and well thought through. Will be reading through a lot of his online work. Looks very worthwhile to me from early impressions.

George H. Smith's Atheism: The Case Against God is an excellent anti-apologetic. I've heard good things about Atheist Universe by David Mills but I have not personally read it.

Read Sam Harris' "The End of Faith". The book is basically an argument for why irrational religious belief may very possibly lead to the destruction of the human species.

Also an interesting article in the new Nov. issue of Wired on the new atheism, which presents some of the arguments of leading athiest thinkers. It's not online yet, should be posted on the wired.com web site soon.
