I read through the bill, did a search for poker and found nothing. The bill does specifically mention games of chance.

I've never put much hope in this, but is this the stance people are going to try to take? Poker is not a game of chance, so the bill doesn't apply?

Obviously a state rulling in California could support that, but I think it's a long shot.

What do you do when the state rules something legal, then the feds say it's not? I'd assume the feds would win out on that one.

I'm going to try to make a call to Patrik Obrien tommorrow. He's one of the leading internet gambling attornies in the world (sued the DOJ for Casino City, represents Pam's Room and the Brunson network, etc). He realizes I may need his service soon, so he should take my call pretty quickly.

They lost? That's news to me.

The case was thrown out because CS had not been charged with anything, which they realized. The case was a proactive step to keep the DOJ from coming after CS.

The DOJ later sent out numerous letters to the National Broadcast association members and other media outlets. We've also all read about the DOJ's crack down on the Travel Channel and the Sporting News.

Casino City has never received a letter or been approached by the DOJ.

If that's a loss, ok, fine.

It doesn't really matter. I'm in the business and talk to people about the business everyday. I just like to give my opinion and things I hear without letting who I work for factor in.

There would be many things I wouldn't say if who I worked for was known. I've been posting on 2+2 for 3 or 4 years under another name.

The stance that these online poker rooms are taking is a bunch of B.S. They are going to tell you whatever it takes to get you to play on their site. If their claim has any validity, then why did pacific poker, pokerroom, and party poker bail? You can't use the excuse that they offer casino games because they would dump those assets in a heartbeat to keep their American poker business.

Cardplayer.com is guilty of this too. They don't want to lose their advertising business so they are trying to calm the waters as much as possible.
