The fishy online qualifiers build the tournament numbers. Also, a lot of pros and decent amateurs play in online satellites because they are soft. Also, the weak fields in major tournaments attract strong cash game pros and tournament players who would not normally play in $10K buyin. So I think not having Internet qualifiers will reduce the fields considerably.

There will also be an increase in live satellites for major tournaments. Also, there will probably be larger fields for EPT tournaments and those in Canada and the Carribean.

However much this law effects poker in general, it is bound to have a big effect on major tournaments, but probably will not have an adverse effect on their value as TV entertainment.

i think the number of online qualifiers to WPT events is pretty small. Is full tilt the only one who runs them regularaly? (used to run them regularly)

In the immortal words of Yogi Berra, if people don't want to come out to the ball game, you can't stop them.
