View Full Version : Affiliate Site Legal?

I run a small affiliate site for sportsbooks, and I was wondering if the new legislation affects me at all. All of the sportsbooks I work with pay me a flat rate for every deposit (I don't continue making money based on the wagering activity of my referees (sp?)), so I don't think I should have to worry. Also, not sure if this matters or not, but I pay out approximately half of my referral bonuses in kickback. I was under the impression that affiliates would only be affected by the new legislation if they profited directly from someone's wagering activity (rakeback, for example), whereas I only profit from someone depositing at the site, not actually wagering. Is my thinking correct here, or am I way off track?

The right answer is to speak with an attorney. 5 years as Bubba's "GF" in the Fed Pen ain't worth risking it.

Since there has never been any debate that online sportsbooks are illegal in the United States, don't you think you should have asked this question when you were setting up the site? Can a lawyer please explain conspiracy, how he is participating in an ongoing criminal activity, how he is part of the conspiracy, yada yada.

Getting advice here is not cheaper than hiring an attorney in the long run
