A law was passed regarding funding of accounts and now we wait to see how sharp its teeth are and how long it takes to grow and what effect it has. This will be seen when the Fed writes the regs (up to 270 days) and banks begin to impliment them (how long after that?)
In the meantime, over half the industry has decided to cut itself off from over half its customers. Certainly there can be some arguments made as to why this has been done, but to many people it just seems a bit strange and premature.
Can you draw a comparison to any other industry that has elected to sort of shoot itself in the foot when maybe it didn't have to?
