Dear American People, you have my sympathies.

This new act is a tragedy for your poker players, but also to the entire poker community. I've read threads about "how great to get rid of the trash-talking Americans etc" but what actually happened is they took away 2/3 of my competitors and fellow poker friends.

I'm Swedish and right now I'm in Florida so cant either play Party Poker which used to be my favourite site. That's not really a problem, I can play Stars, or I can go back to Europe or Canada or Latin America. But that is just me, if I was one of you guys, and I see how you are struggling, just read about Maryland habitants who can't use Neteller for deposits, I've read about the desperation in forms of moving away from USA...

What I'm trying to say is that it's gettin bad, real bad... Can't you feel it's getting worse? The loopholes isn't the issue here. We shouldn't discuss the alternative payment methods, the sites allowing US players, instead we must reaaly do something, now!

Put some pressure on those damn politicians, if all online poker plyers (there must be millions) said, we wont take this anymore (with a loud voice) something got to happen. I refuse to believe the senators and congressmen really understood what tragedy this is to so many people when they voted. We must stand up.

I have a bad gut feeling, this is just the beginning. It's just a matter of time until you guys cant reload your accounts at Poker Stars and Full Tilt. It's just a matter of time until you can't play there at all. Then Canada, Scandinavia and many countries will follow.

I have a bad gut feeling...

Those are my feelings.........good post.....I think we can lay like cattle and chew the cud.......or we can make a stand hopefully in a mass...
I just love the "no sayers" on this sight that have nothing but negative input...
I have moved from party to poker stars and had a reasonably good session yesterday...
Little better players in general.....less variance , and as long as Stars stays in U.S....

IF an intelligent clean cut celebrity poker fan would take the reins on this issue....lots of dollars....lots of press.....a march on Washington......with some realtime #s to show the Whitehouse...
Then maybe the press would see this as another liberty stripped from the people...
There has to be a "platform"...not just a gaming issue

If PPA doesn't step up to the plate... then they should no longer be supported...

We as the players should work with the PPA to help them. Its in our best interest to be proactive and not worry about how the PPA is underperforming. We only gave them $20 anyhow.

Indiana... yeah... we should work with an entity that is doing the work to determine what needs to be done and how to effectively go about doing it... and then coordinating poker player resources and others to get it done...

What is the point of PPA, if this is not their role?

If PPA is not performing, then giving them any money is worse than LAGging it up at 100% VPIP...

The money "I gave them" came out of a Party Poker bonus that I had to "voluntarily" give the PPA in order to get my bonus. I even got a shirt for my "donation" /images/graemlins/wink.gif My opinion, they've done as much as I've given....

BTW, nothing against people that studder, but I wouldn't have them as my spokesperson. The guys at work always laugh at me when this Bolcerek guy gets on TV. He's terrible.

I definitely agree we need an organized voice that knows what he/she is doing with this. Maybe a celebrity figure and Berg or Mr. K.... I'd really donate to that (Even though it may be too late)

Am I correct to assume that the address listed on your Party account in your Swedish address? If so, that would seem to confirm that Party is in fact blocking play from IP addresses withing the US even from non-US registered accounts, right?

Thanks,

I agree a march would be great. I would like to see it in Iowa or Tennesee (home states of Leach And Frist) put some focus on thse pr..ks maybe cost them a few votes. Washington or Vegas wouldn't draw as much attention as a more obscure place would. Needs to be done before this cause fades out of media and we become complacent about this issue. At first I was shocked, now I am pissed lets do it.

I don't know about this.

First I really don't think we could get enough people.

And second, unfortunately, I don't think that the group that would show up would be the faces that we want out there that will sway american/congressman votes. I see a lot of 18-24 yr old students making the trip and not enough older players taking time off to fly/drive to DC. (Are there any casinos near by? Maybe they could hold a tourney to give players an incentive to go to DC)

Also I think the best thing to show the public is that congress has taken away a hobby of 20 million people, and not $100K opportunity from an 18 year old. It feeds right into their "addiction starts at a young age" concerns.

I think the petitions or something else that will show a strength in numbers would be a better idea. And with all the intelligence that the online community has I'm sure there are some better ideas floating out there.

The nearest casinos are in Atlantic City, over 3 hours from DC.

I think a march is a good idea. It has to be in DC. It can't be in Iowa or Tennessee as has been suggested. Whoever heard of marching on Des Moines? (especially for a national issue)

In 2006, marches are a waste of time. The only way to get your point across is to form a PAC and stuff their campaign coffers. Then vote as a block in massive numbers for candidates that support your view.
