Just got an email from Stars:

PokerStars Player,

We regret to inform you that PokerStars is no longer accepting deposits from
FirePay or processing cashouts back to FirePay accounts.

To continue depositing at PokerStars, we would recommend that you use an
alternative payment option such as NETeller (www.neteller.com) which is a fast,
safe and convenient way to transfer money to your account.

To give you an incentive to begin using NETeller, we are happy to offer you a
25% bonus of up to $100 on your first NETeller deposit.* To receive the maximum
bonus of $100, you must make a $400 NETeller deposit. To be eligible to receive
your bonus, just enter the bonus code "NT2006" on the NETeller deposit screen in
the PokerStars Cashier. The minimum deposit with NETeller is only $25.

NETeller functions in much the same way as FirePay with the use of online checks
(EFT) to transfer money from your bank account to your PokerStars account. The
difference is that you can deposit using NETeller absolutely free of any fees!
Deposits made through the PokerStars Cashier using the NETeller InstaCASH option
are free of charge and are credited to your PokerStars account immediately.

As for your cashouts, once you deposit using NETeller your funds will be sent to
NETeller when you cash out. Once we've sent the total amount you deposited
using NETeller back to your NETeller account, you will have the option of
receiving your winnings via NETeller or you may choose to receive a check from
PokerStars.

Cashout options from a NETeller account include receiving funds credited
directly to your bank account, regular (paper) checks as well as a NETeller
debit card which allows you to access funds held in your NETeller account from
ATMs throughout the world.

For more information about using NETeller please visit our web site at
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/real-money/neteller

For assistance with registering a NETeller account please call a deposit expert
any time at 1-877-769-3444.

NETeller is a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange and regulated
by the highly respected Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the United
Kingdom.

We are confident that you will soon feel equally comfortable with using NETeller
as you have been with FirePay in the past. Rest assured, you can expect the
same quality and level of service which you have always received and become
accustomed to from PokerStars.

We would like to reassure you that all funds held with PokerStars are completely
secure. Player deposits are held in a separate bank account so that they remain
completely isolated from all other aspects of the business.

*To earn the 25% deposit bonus, a player must earn 7 Frequent Player Points
(FPP) per bonus dollar (example: to earn a $100 bonus you must earn 700 FPPs).
Only Base FPPs count toward releasing your bonus. This bonus offer expires
Tuesday October 31st at midnight ET. To receive your bonus, you must earn the
required FPPs within 6 months of your bonus-earning deposit. Click here to view

I think it's awesome that since Firepay shut out the US, Stars got rid of them completely. "You're either with us or against us."

SUBJECT: New FirePay policy for US account holders

On September 30, 2006, the United States Congress passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

Once President Bush approves the Act. FirePay (www.firepay.com) will no longer allow US consumer payments for online gambling merchants.
Beginning the day President Bush signs the Act, FirePay will decline any purchase transactions from US FirePay account holders at any gambling merchant site.
Ten days after President Bush signs the Act, FirePay will decline any transfer attempt made by any online gambling merchant to a US FirePay account.
All US FirePay accounts holders will continue to be able to make purchases and receive payments from non-gambling, online merchants, as well as “Deposit From” and “Withdraw To” their US bank account.

Click here for the latest news and opportunities for FirePay account holders..

** Please note:
This new policy will not affect FirePay account holders from outside of the United States

For any questions regarding these deadlines or policy, please email info@firepay.com

Sincerely,
FirePay

Yeah, screw Firepay!

Uh, can anybody tell me how I can check my balance on NETeller? Do I need to link my account to my bank acct. first before I start receiving withdrawals from the poker sites I used to play at?

Neteller seems to be making a concerted attempt to grab market share.

Check Balance: Log On to Neteller, doh!

Withdrawals: I have mine EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) to my bank account in Arizona, USA. If I request it before noon, it is usually in my account the next morning, after noon, usually a day later.

Before your first withdrawal you'll need to get your account approved. You enter your information and Neteller will make a micro deposit (.01 - .99$) into your account. Once you confirm the amount of that deposit you're set to go. They just want to make sure you're/I'm not an idiot and have your money deposited into the wrong account. Not a bad idea!

Been using them for 1.5 years. Very happy.

So if you currently have money on stars that you deposited using Firepay, you must open a NETeller account? Is there anyother way to withdraw funds?

There are plenty of ways to get your money out. Check the cashier and contact CS.

Why wouldn't they? When opportunity presents itself ...

I've been using Neteller for a couple of years. Class act. I hope they rake it in, seeing as how they have the courage to stand strong where others are wilting.
