Modified Shootout Structure?

Looking at the World Poker Finals @ Foxwoods, I see they have an event called a modified shootout. Can someone clarify exactly what this is. I *think it is when it starts off as a regular shootout, but then stops @3 players. Then the 3 players advance to the "final round" which is then a regular NLHE tourney? Anyone know? thanks.

shootout except top three players from each table advance to finals being held later in the day

yep its a nice event plays the first part like a Act 1 then the second part is a normal MTT
