View Full Version : PPA: GET ON THE HORN WITH THE US B&Ms ASAP

Party's departure from the market leaves a jump ball for about 15 million US customers. The US B&M casinos, with their deep pockets and extensive political connections, must be drooling at the prospect of getting their hands on them.

PPA, if you're serious about trying to get a poker exemption, or about any future lobbying, now is the time to start working closely with the casinos.

I don't know about the casinos, but where is the PPA?

I am surprised they haven't made any kind of statement.

No, they made a fairly major statement today on these forums, they just got lost in the mud and I am way to tired to find it and link it.

I think it's way too early to know what impact this is going to have on the poker industry as a whole, but I doubt the B&Ms are drooling right now. Before the poker craze, B&M poker rooms weren't full to the brim with tourists - in fact, most casinos didn't even have one. If (I'm saying "IF", I'm not saying this is going to happen) this law does succeed in stopping U.S. players from playing online, it's going to mean the end of the poker craze for the most part. That won't mean there won't be people playing poker in B&Ms, just not as many.

I just don't think less people playing online is going to translate into more people playing live. Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if the powerful Vegas lobby does gt more involved at some point. The best outcome would be if the gov't decides to regulate the industry. This new law is simply a function of the Republican party trying to score points with conservative voters in the face of possibly losing control of Congress. After the election the climate may be more amenable to a more rational solution (regulation).

All just IMHO, of course.

As a staunch conservative and Christian Coalition member, they have alienated me from the political process. I'm beyond angry at my Republican Senators and Congressmen about this, and I have let them know (before and after they voted).

Join the club. The amerian people left and right are being isolated right now from the political process. The problem is who is left to vote for?

It's kind of ironic when I just cashed out of Party it gave me a link to join the PPA...

Religion is big business... bigger than poker. Our ancestors fled Britian to escape religious persecution. Yet, here we are being oppressed under religious idealism. One nation - my butt.

So much for the land of the free.
I hate this government. I hate the people for doing nothing(not that it would matter) I hate this old boys club system of power. I hate the democrats for not providing an acceptable alternative. I hate the media for what they did to Dean. I hate this president more than anyone ever. I hate Bill Frist for his underhanded shennanigans ( If they could make this fly, without attaching to a Bill that no-one can vote against, then more power to em, but they f ucked us all, this is not democracy, and it sure as hell isnt related to port security)
I hate that there are so many things wrong with this country and they choose to tackle online gaming so they can apeal to the Christian right in an election year. Damn all religious extremists and politicans preying on their imsecurties. I hate feeling helpless. I hate the fifty percent of you that re-elected this evil man. I hate that you bought his lies, when it was obvious he was lying. I hate that you claim Christianity but have no qualms about the slaughter of 150,000 Iraqis. I hate what happened to us on 9/11, but we are only making it worse by letting our government take away our freedoms. I hate that we impeached Nixon, and let Bush slide. I hate that none of us have the balls for a coup de'tat. I hate that I am still rambling, but god damnit I am mad. I hate that after all that, I still don't feel any better.

Sure leaves me with a difficult choice. Would I rather have Hillary in the White House, someone I have total disdain for and have legal poker, or a Republican and no poker???

Yes, I think it was, "bad enough I have this arrow sticking through my chest, but now I can't play Internet poker?!?"
