Quick.....5 more hours till market opens for Monday:

Do B&M type stocks go up or down this week?

2 possibilites here:

#1) Online players will flood B&M casinos sending stocks
soaring.

#2) Online creates a market that fills B&M casinos,
losing future customers, sending stocks down.

I'm gonna say #3 - very little change if any. Possibly very slightly down, but probably not.

Poker money is pretty meaningless compared to slot machines.

rofl! believe it or not the bill was for all online gaming not just poker.

I would expect a large increase in business for all b&m gambling and specifically vegas.

I think that both effects you mention will occur. It's a matter of determining which one will dominate the other. Whatever money B&Ms gain from online players flocking to casinos to get their poker on will probably be offset in the long haul by the fact that there will be no more internet poker advertisement and less generation of interest in poker. The entire market loses.

Now, as a matter of speculation, many people might take the intuition of #1 and stick their money there, which is why it makes a good short-term gamble. However, it doesn't look like such growth will actually be real, so expect that hype to die down real fast.

edit: "poker" can be interchanged with any other casino games for that matter.

I've been wondering the same thing to be honest.. What we need to answer this question is the data of how many online players also play in B&M casinos; also which precipiates the other.

I'd expect a decrease in casino visits over the long term, but in the shot term I think casinos will get more business. No clue what that means for the stock, but I'd guess up.
