I used to post a long time ago under a different name but lost the info.

Wanted to get thoughts on the following:

Is it only a matter of time before it is back?

I was thinking about the non-stance of the B&M casino industry. What are/were the motivations? Why not work to have the prohibition blocked and take a piece of the pie?

Was/Is their long term plan for the law to go through and now that the law is in effect to aggressively promote and lobby for the "study" of online gambling and eventually lead it to regulation, all the while, diminishing the marketing and market share advantages gained by the current online gambling companies? It seems ludicrous that they would not want a share of the pie, which is huge both here in the U.S and abroad. This is THEIR industry afterall.

Any thoughts?

The points you make in the last paragraph could well be dead-on. Hard to say at this point, but it seems clear that the U.S. B&Ms eventually want in on the online action, and a few years of this law might give them the opening they want and need.

that is a very good point. mgm and harrahs and the others might have felt like they were too far behind to try and catch up with party, full tilt, stars and the likes but now they will be getting in on the ground floor if they are able to get licences in any individual states. so perhaps this is why they didn't seem to really fight it so much.
