How nervous were you guys back when credit cards were 'banned'? was the sense of panic this bad?

I was never around for credit cards. Back in 96, 97, and 1998 we didn't take them. It was all Western Union, Bank Wires, and Cashiers Checks. So I never dealt with them.

As I understand it, the scariest part of the credit cards was not the ban but the scummy processors everyone was using at the time. It was amazing what crooks were able to get merchant accounts, process for a bunch of books, and then run off with the funds. Ironic since the legitimate books could not get these same merchant accounts.
