You do not need to start freaking out. There is no need to withdraw all your funds and become a hobbit.

Online poker is not legal with the passing of this bill. The portion from the bill that passed the House earlier tried to add more forms of online gambling to the wire act. This DID NOT make it into this version of the bill.

Online poker is not anymore illegal after this bill goes into effect then it was before.

The onus is on the banking industry to police this. “They have been insistent that the legislation adds impractical and costly burdens that it may not be capable of assuming, and has already claimed that it would not have any way of monitoring the use of electronic checks for the purposes of betting online.”

“The banking sector has voiced strong opposition to provisions that require banks to block electronic funds transfers or e-check payments to online gambling sites. These provisions are essentially broad and unenforceable, the banks claim; moreover, even if it were possible to surmount technical obstacles, prospective gamblers could easily use alternative means to finance such transactions.”

Again online poker does NOT become illegal via this bill.

We can consider it a minor win that with this bill the wire act will not be affected.
