It seems the main issue the government has is US dollars leaving the US. They are wary of talented Europeans, Asians etc to kick the crap out of joe sixpack.

Could they not just legalize poker networks that only allow US players, and the network pays states tax from revenue that was generated from a citizen of their state.

I think this may actally happen, however if this were to happen I think they may have to answer to the WTO. But we've seen what the U.S government thinks of the WTO already, haven't we.

I'm actually disgusted by the hypocrisy. What's the difference between betting on horses and playing poker. Surely one exercises more brain power during the latter.

I really wish the average joe had a voice. Where's Wallace (William)!! For a while I thought the internet could have been our Wallace, our saviour. Alas I was mistaken.

I disagree. It is untaxed revenue that they are concerned with. Covering this is the nanny-state ideology which has given us seat belt laws and helmet laws for motorcycles. Obviously all of those are examples of holier than thou bureaucrats who think the average person is so stupid that they have to legislate common sense at the expense of freedom.

that would be a pretty sweet compromise.

Is this the real 'Ho? If so we met at the Dec All-In camp and a couple of months ago at the B.

I disagree here. If they were concerned about untaxed revenue they wouldve just went the regulate and tax mode. There is plenty of infrastucture in LV to have regulated sites up and running. The big casino companies have software tested and ready to go.

This is obviously true. Let me put my made in China shoes shirt and pants on and go running outside, I am sure I'll pass a bunch of Japanese vehicles parked outside.

Then I'll come home and sit in front of my made in japan monitors.

Those are essentials. It would cost you more to buy goods made in the US.

Think of online gambling as a leak in the US economy and Frist a fat stinkng *£@/! plumber.

I agree. We would never have heard a peep about this If the damn online sites would have gotten some decent lobbyists to take the senators out, get the laid and then say, "look, we know you guys want your tax revenue, and we want to keep making money so we can come get you hookers and blow every few months, so how about we start revenue reporting big cashouts to the IRS? Everyone ok with that, ok, pass the bong.. where the hell is Frist anyway? It's his turn with Dailia."

The Federal Gov. would never do develop the network. They would be the ones that would have to regulate it and even if they did, the States wouldn't just all of a sudden be making tax revenue from a Federal run program. It just gets too complicated. However, what is realistic is for individual States to develop their own programs. That's the only way they'd be able to make tax revenue. I mean dont get me wrong, the Feds would definitely kick back to the states in subsidiary cash, but man it would just be so complicated and inefficient.

Another curve in the road is this: if a state develops a program, can only players in who reside in that State play poker? If it's an open network (nation wide), THEN the Feds STILL have to step in and regulate since it's now considered Intrastate Commerce. So then you're looking at a huge court battle between state and Feds and guess what... Feds would probably come out King no matter what the States wanted to do (unless it was a per state network... which would simply suck).

Just my take on limited knowledge.... hopefully it'd be easier to do than that but I can just see a lot of road blocks in either scenario.
