Given the promise of decent merchandise in the Party Poker store (or whatever it's called) I thought it'd be worth trying to get a gauge on how many party points is a decent amount.

I have 70,000, you?

Good idea/poll. I have ~37k, although I didn't play very much over the fall/early-winter.

239,000. Never spent a single point.
Hopefully they will add something worthwhile to the store in Feb.

Yeah, guess there's billions of them things out there. Be careful not to jump at the first good point opportunity. They might try to widdle some of them away before going full throtle with the store. I've seen sites do so before by starting out with some attractive looking guaranteed tournies for big points, but when you look at it closer much better deals come later.

Well, considering the balances out there, does anyone think Party will stipulate that only points earned after Date X can be used in the "enhanced store"? Old points might still be avail for freerolls and existing D-grade merch, of course. I don't know, this is just a guess. Of course with about 50K points I certainly hope they don't adopt this rule.

Also, anyone have a guess as to the rough cash equivalent of a party point once they go w/new store? I figure things like the iPod will help us measure that. My guess? iPod will probably be at least 100K points, and probably more.

Over in the zoo, someone mentioned that a freeroll that is roughly equivalent to $100 entry costs 20,000 points, so it could correspond to that scale. I hope so.

Alternatively, it could correspond to the 10,000 points for a cheapass women's tracksuit scale, which would be less ideal.

Time will tell, I guess.

Any caveat that states "only new points" would be a joke. What use would the old ones be?
