I've been playing BlackJack on the side of Party Poker, I dont know much about the game but what I do is I put 1 dollar in and if i lose i double the bet, until i win, then I drop down to 1$, every hand I win I drop down to 1$ even if it was 1$ before. I've played like 30~50 hands so far and I'm up over 100 cuz I never lose that many times in a row right? But it seems to be although this method seems profitable I'm bound to hit a 10 loss in a row streak and lose my whole poker stack of 1000$. In the long run, is that risk worth it? in other words, do I make more money often enough in this method to make up for the rare time I bust my whole bankroll on the table?

You better hope noone from vegas reads this or the casinos will shut down all the 1:1 payout games and we 'martingalers' will be out of a job. We've managed to keep this profitable little secret for 40 years but your discovery is threatening to blow the whole thing wide open. For my sake at least delete your post now before it's too late...

People are being sarcastic because we see this system posted here about once a day. It's known as the "Martingale", or "progression" betting system, and no it is not profitable in the long run. Using this system, you will have a lot of $1 winning sessions, but there will be a small chance of a huge losing session. Even though the chance is small, it is big enough to more than negate all of your winning sessions.

If you're not afraid of doing some independent research, this web page (http://wizardofodds.com/gambling/betting-systems.html) from the Wizard of Odds web site gives a lot of analysis of this and other gambling fallacies.

If you're running so hot why not make the stakes higher? Think of the money you could make.

In addition to everyone elses comments, you run the risk of hitting the table limit before winning. I'm doing this at Site ____ (In case the overhead casino spy satellites are up). Yes, I actually had to put $256 on the table. That's 8 losses in a row. If I'd lost that hand, next bet would be over the table limit.

But it was nice to hit blackjack. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Please tell me when you manage to lose ten hands in a row and get busted, so that I may laugh for hours on end.
