Looks like he might have a Jack of some kind, but is this a call or a fold? When he didn't raise the turn I was pretty sure I was good, now not so much.

I'm having a hard time finding a range where we'd be good often enough to call. He hasn't played the hand like he has a Jack, and I doubt this is a bluff with a missed spade draw. I think he probably has something like 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif, and it's a close, tough fold.

he played the hand exactly like a donk who hit a Jack- he shut down and started slowplaying. Look at that awful river c/r.

IMO, the only question is whether his kicker is better than your kicker. No preflop raise, so probably not AJ. No flop slowplay, so probably not a 6 or 8. So we are behind a K or 4. That's 2 out of 10 likely kickers. 7 we beat. 1 we split with. If you don't exclude anything we are ahead of/split with 8/13 kickers.

I'm calling.

Wow. River check-raises are extremely rare at NL25. We've shown strength throughout this hand and he's obviously expecting us to bet the river, then he checkraises big. He doesn't seem concerned about trip Jacks. I hate to fold trips, but I'm folding this hand.

Villian later turned out to be 70/20/0.5 over the next 80 hands or so before all his money went away. If I had known that at the time it's a fold right?

I'd raise the flop to hopefully shutout the people in early position from drawing to anything. If you get reraised, you're probably in trouble, if not your hand is looking good. If villain calls the raise, you can really charge him on the turn if he has a draw or an inferior J. As played, I'm not quite sure what to tell you about the river, but my gut tells me you're beat.
