I was in class trying to figure the odds of flopping top pair with the common starting hands. I think I was doing something wrong though and was wondering if anyone knew or could easily calculate and tell me the odds of flopping top pair with:
AQ
AJ
AT
KQ
KJ
KT
QJ
QT

Also, what are the odds of any non-paired hand flopping two pair (not counting board pair). Trips?

Thanks for your help

Ive been playing a lot of 6-max hold em and in that KTs is a very raisable hand from late when folded to. Heck, even from from early on some tables im raising it.

There are 19,600 possible flops. If you have two unpaired cards:

2 of them give you four of a kind
18 of them give you a full house
264 of them give you three of a kind
396 of them give you two pair
5,676 of them give you one pair

Given that you have one pair the odd of it being the top pair depends on how many ranks beat your top card (call this T) and how many ranks beat your lower card (call this L). The probability that your pair is the top pair is:

1 - (1 - T/11)*(1/2 - 2*T/43) - (1 - L/12)*(1/2 - 2*L/47)
