View Full Version : When the big bet is bigger than two small bets

I am starting to really like the Stud/8 game over at Absolute. THere is usually only one table running, unfortunately, but the players are pretty soft.

The structure is odd, though. .01 ante, .05 BI, .10 SB, .25 big bet.

Obviously the small ante makes it possible to wait for a LONG time for good hands without going broke, which is useful. It lets me avoid too many marginal situations while I'm still learning.

I'm curious how anyone here would adjust their game because the big bet is proportionally bigger than usual. It seems like you could limp in with more marginal hands to see if they develop because you know you can make it up on 5-7. At the same time it seems to demand that either the pot be very multiway or your hand be made by 5th street, because you aren't likely to get good drawing odds on 5th unless your draw is very strong.
