So now that its 2006 the VIP program has officially begun. I am personallly just trying to get to Silver status as fast as I can playing the 22's.

Who will be the first to each limit? Who will be the first Supernova? What limits/games will you be playing to reach your goal? This is thread to post your progress.

I only have 1350 points until Silver to go!

I played a bit of $2-4 last night and earned 250 points (1250 to Silver). I'm trying to get to Gold this month as I have a bit of the Crypto and Prima sites that I'm just starting to bonuswhore. Mostly I'll 2-table the 2-4 6max with 4 full-ring tables.

I saw a thread where someone hit Silver status at 7:30 am (so roughly 7.5 hours they got the 1500 points). I'll try to find the thread.

There have been posts already stating they hit Silver. I imagine Gold status will be reached by tomorrow sometime and Platinum by the end of the week. Mid to late Feb will be the start of the Nova players. Those high limit addicts can rack em up pretty quick.

I'll reach Gold later tonight, just a little burnt out of 8tabling all day. 523 VPP to go.

There're a couple of Platinums already. $5k and $1k HU games are good for FPP.

If they made platinum in the first 30 hours of the year do you really think they're going to have trouble maintaining that?

Hey sciolist, since you're here and the question just popped into my head. My wife and I both have accounts, and I know we can't play regular SnGs together but will it let us play heads up?

Afraid not. If you mail in and complain, I'll forward the mail though :]

I'm Silver after 4.5 hours of play this year. I'm not altering my play much at all for the VIP stuff since I should easily get Platinum each month and Supernova in 3-5 months with normal play.

Wouldn't you pay a high price (in rake) for your VPPs?

Why not just get a deck of cards out and save the rake?

I am sure pokerstars would have no problem with you two playing heads up sngs. However, that would be dumb because you would never win any money.

And Stars would be able to buy about 27 Porches with the profit from these players.

More like 7.

27 would be at 25% rakeback. 27 is much closer than 7.

Grey

Rakeback at supernova is about 28%. So each of these players, when they earn 3 porsches, will have earned stars about 7 porsches.

If you're going to count both players, and assume 25%, then 6 porsches times 3 equals 18 porsches- not 27.

Whatever the amount, I doubt Stars is making money off of these players with the VIP program. It sounds like they already have a niche in the stars tourneys, and were playing a lot before the program. Traffic at stars is going to have to increase noticeably (somewhere between 15-20%) because of the program in order for it to be worthwhile, and I'm not sure it'll increase enough.

Edited for math.

Ah, I was doing the math for 3 players not 2...

It will be interesting to see how the program works out.
