View Full Version : The silly nature of bonus banning

Now, first of all, I'm going to preface this by saying that I have been bonus banned for the first time today. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

The whole concept of bonus banning seems to be rediculous. I got an email today saying that I was banned basically for being a "good player".

I don't understand how anyone can be a "good" blackjack player. The house advantage sees to that. There are only levels of "bad" play. Maybe I am in the best category of bad. I don't know.

Did I take advantage of bonuses offered, sure I did. But I seem to be banned becasue I had an upswing in luck, luck that is sure to reverse itself in the long run. So why ban me?

Bonus banning me only allows me to get away with a profit from the site without any incentive for me to redeposit.

I understand that bonuses are +EV for me (that's why I do them) and that means they are -EV for the casino. But they are that way for everyone, no matter if they win or lose.

Wins and losses are always in the house favor in the long run. Bonuses hurt the casinos no matter who does them. Why ban your loyal player over a few hundred bucks?

You would think that they might adjust their bonus offerings to maintain their customers rather than bonus ban them altogether.

I'm sure they would let you play without a bonus. If thats not true then yes they are idiots. If they see you are smart enuogh to only play in +EV situations then they are smart business people.

Casinos can do whatever they want. If they want to ban u, they will..... However, as a whore, it is better for them to off +EV bonuses and get banned at a few places than all the casinos offering -EV singup bonuses.

This is probably a really stupid newbie question, but if you get banned from a casino what happens to your money. I.E.

I sign up at casino X to take advantage of a 100% up to 100 bonus. bonus is at 90 after clearing the bonus portion. The bonus is released and now the account is at 190. If I cashout and am then banned do you usually get the full cashout amount and THEN banned, or sometimes do they just ban you and release your money on the site minus the bonus?

That seems really confusing but hopefully you understand the question.

I honestly don't understand why casinos offer such +EV bonuses. They are going to be abused by whores, and fish aren't going to really be able to tell the difference between a "good" and "bad" bonus.

LOL wtf are you talking about. You are a bonus whore. You are not a "loyal customer". Bonuses are designed to attract fish that lose money to the site, not to give you free money.

Actually, I did consider myself a loyal customer of that particular casino. I've made many more deposits there than anywhere else. They are a trustworthy site that I feel comfortable depositing money with. While I wouldn't play there for no bonus, as I could do that anywhere, I'd play there for less.

My point is that by bonus banning me, they take away any chance of me coming back. Casinos should be more creative than that. Make the WR higher if they think I'm abusing what they offered. Reduce the max I can get from bonuses. Make me play different games.

If I'm loyal, I'd come back. If I'm not, I'd move on. Either way, I wouldn't feel like the socked me for having a run of good luck.

Sure, they will let me play without a bonus. They aren't stupid.

But now they force me to move on without giving me an option that is more or less even EV. I just think that is bad business practice.

They are counting on the Addiction Factor. If you read BBV, you can see how many winning poker players lose a ton of money at Party BJ. Even smart people get hooked occasionally and the casinos rely on that. Also, fish may be suckers, but they're not retarded. A good bonus is appealing even to them.

Not quite. The amount of money a casino will lose to a player who only plays on +EV situations is unlikely to be greater than the money they'll lose after that same player drags the casinos name through the mud on message boards and tells all of his friends to avoid the casino.

They bank on the fact that most people suck at publicity.

Oh sure. Because a casino sure wouldn't want a bunch of bonus-abusers all deciding to stop playing there at the same time. That kind of publicity could be DEVASTATING!!

And all the 'regular' gamblers who are playing slot-machines there will all somehow hear about the bad-publicity and will stop playing at that casino.

I'm pretty sure a casino would LOVE for bad press to stop 2+2 bonus whores from whoring them. If anything, i bet they're happy to get rid of them!
Now maybe if it were a different message board with slightly less savvy players..say a keno strategy page? (does that even exist? lol)

If casinos don't want players who are after bonuses, then why would they pay CBP to refer them players, when their motto is:

"HELPING PLAYERS BEAT THE HOUSE" (the caps are theirs)
