Sorry for the dumb question, I am too lazy to find the answer for myself right now and I'm sure someone knows the answer. (I tried the search but I guess I need "search school" cause I never get what I am looking for.

What is the exact buy in? $12,500 with 10k going to the prize pool? Or is it 11k with a 10% fee?

$10k (9,400 to prize pool and $600 to rake/dealer pool; although the amt that actually gets to dealers form this is dubious).

It'd be cool if we started calling the event $9400 + $600, rather than 10k, to be more reflective of where the money really goes. =)

Aren't a lot of WPT events $9,700 + $300?

Yes. Then 3% of the prizepool is withheld for the staff (not just dealers). Not all are 3% but that's the way it's written I believe.

I generally am not big on complaining about rake, but 6.4% seems high for that buyin, particularly with all the TV revenues and publicity.

Case in point, I heard Partypoker paid 25 Million to put partpoker.net on the center of all the tables.

$25 million? Are you serious? And the players get nothing, plus they are expected to tip the dealers?

Tournament poker players need to unionize.

With all the extra money coming in, it should be $10,000 + 0. At least.
