Just got this email from mansion.com

Get up to GBP 100 Cash-back from MANSION Sportsbook. Place an Asian Handicap bet on Tottenham Hotspur for their match on Saturday 19 August. If your bet is not a winner, MANSION will refund your losses, up to GBP 100 (or currency equivalent) within 48 hours.

Is there a catch? I'm definitely new to sports betting.

There's a tutorial about the Asian handicap (the name is awfully racist in my opinion =D). I guess basically it's a way to balance the odds out (a spread). So for example, if the Marlins play the Detroit Tigers, and the Tigers are the favorite, they'll assign the handicap of 3 runs. Then, if the final score is 1-3 (Tigers win), they add the 3 runs to the Marlins and it becomes 4-3 (Marlins win). Something like that...

A possible catch might be that you must bet more than 100GBP?

catamite
08-11-2006, 02:42 AM
No catch. Mansion just signed a shirt sponsorship deal with English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur worth £34m. They're bankrolled bigtime, by Putera Sampoerna among others, so will be competing with the big boys, Betfair, Bet365, etc.

As for the game itself, Bolton v Tottenham, I think pre-season form belongs to Tottenham and they're worth the punt at -0.5. I'd be reluctant to put them down at -1 but it is a free bet after all. Place your bets early so you can catch them before the lines move.

You can read more in my upcoming European football column next week.

Bet on the line without a draw option. Right now it's -119.

You just make an asian handicap bet on Tottenham Hotspur in their match against Bolton in the sportsbook (make sure you don't do it on the exchange). But you should always read the T&Cs on the site, of course, to make sure that what I'm telling you is accurate.

Edit: I'm not happy with the tone of my post. I didn't mean that to sound condescending in any way, but I wasn't sure how exactly to say it.

If you haven't ever made a deposit at Mansion, you will get their 1st time deposit bonus, which has restrictions to be able to cash it out. If you haven't made an initial deposit, I would recommend getting the nice bonus they offer, clearing it, and then making the risk free sportsbet. We just put updated our article about how to profitably clear the initial bonus on our site, but in a nutshell, play red or black on their single zero roulette table with the help of an autoclicker.

If anyone is into poker more than sportsbetting, there is an affiliate out there with a sweet (terribly easy to clear) extra bonus. Not to mentin their poker bonus is incremental (a la Absolute), so you don't have to clear a huge chunk. You can then utilize this free bet rollover free.

brendanb438

This is a really good deal. If you are interested in the affiliate Sand's mentioned they offer a $90 kickback on top of Mansion's signup bonus. Plus with this deal if you place a bet on the other team on say Pinny for $80 you will get $79 profit on this bet no matter what. This is a really nice hedge bet. PM me for details or questions if you need help with this one.

I got the email as well. Placed my bet for USD$180, which is a little below 100GBP (in case the market fluctuates between now and the 19th).

I couldn't find the correct game for a little while, until I realised that the Mansion website displays all game dates/times in your local time. (Mine was GMT+10, so the game actually starts on Sunday for me).

Go Tottenham, err... whoever they are.

Yeah the game is next Sat. Remember to place the bet in the Sportsbook not the Exchange. You can then place a bet at Pinny on the other team of $80 and you will win $78 no matter who wins as long as there isn't a tie, if a tie happens all bets are a push. Also like I said earlier you can get an extra $90 from an affiliate and all you have to do is place a $50 sportsbet which this bet will clear that requirement. Very nice deal if you want more info PM me..

Pinnacle Sports. Mansion is getting looked at for their VP, I would suggest not playing it. The house edge seems to be higher than advertised. No one has had any problems with them other than with that VP, and it looks like that is a problem with the software developer not Mansion. I believe that when Mansion accepts something is wrong with the VP they will probably go back and look at everyone who played and issue refunds of some sort because of it being off.

Mansion VP,

The video poker was reshuffleing discards before the redraw. So you could throw away the 6 of clubs and then get it back when you redrew. This resulted in what I have been told is an additional 3% HA. They have been reviewing accounts, but they are being pretty sh1tty about it so far.

It's european roulette so the HA is only 1.35% which gives an EV of $460 one of the best bonuses out there IMO.

On a related note, I just wanna make sure this doesn't change the HA. Say I am betting even, red, and 1-18 at $20 each. This doesn't change the HA does it?

1huskerfan

[/ QUOTE ]

You are missing a fair bit. If you play European Roulette, the HA is lowered, as it is single 0 and half of your bet is returned on even money bets if it lands on the 0.

Therefore, EV on even money bets (assuming bet is on red) is:
(EV(red) + EV(black) + EV(Zero))/37 = ((2)(18) + (0)(18) + (0.5)(1))/37 = 0.9864864

Therefore, HA on even is 1.351351%.

Therefore, EV on signup bonus is:
1000-(40000)(0.01351351) = $459.46 (2dp)

We must also run through another $1000 wagering after bonus is promoted before cashout. We can play single-hand blackjack so it will not dip more than a few bucks into EV.

I am a Mansion affiliate and am offering $90 kickback, PM me if interested. I'll send a guide and a few tools to help.

thomasperfecto
08-17-2006, 02:37 PM
I don't understand how you get the $90 from pokersavvy. It seems you need 1000 points to get $100 and you only get 900 for mansion, so then you have to do another promo to get another 900 points or refer 2 players.

I did the same thing, bet on the sports-exchange accidentally.

All you need to do is bet $150 or $160 or so for Bolton over on Pinnacle or WSEX to counter-balance it.

And bet $180 again on Mansion on the sportsbook side.

This is what I did. I now have over $550 in action on this game on two different books which feels really weird since my standard sports-bet is $10.

If Bolton wins I lose $1.
If Tottenham wins I make $150.

I lost a few bucks to the juice by accidentally betting in the exchange and having to do all these other bets to make up for it, but it's no big deal

I find it interesting that someone who made $80 on this would brag. Basically you sacrifice a few $ in EV and waste some extra time to place the second bet just to avoid variance on a bet which isn't even that large (I mean, I guess if you have a microbankroll this is a big bet, but w/e). Dear Member,

Thank you for taking part in our Tottenham Cash-Back promotion on their Saturday 19 August match against Bolton.

Early goals from Bolton's Kevin Davies and Ivan Campo gave the home team a first-half advantage. Despite a strong start to the second half, Tottenham was unable to make up the deficit and suffered a 2-0 defeat at the Reebok Stadium.

As a result of the Tottenham defeat, MANSION will credit your Member account (USERNAME) with USD 189.85 as the calculated net loss amount of your qualified Asian Handicap bet in the Tottenham Cash-Back promotion. Due to the popularity of this offer we anticipate finalising all payments no later than 19:00GMT, Tuesday 22 August.

We hope that this promotion has whet your appetite for English Premier League betting with MANSION and that you will continue to choose MANSION for better odds and some of the highest internet betting limits in the industry.

If you have not already visited our Sports Exchange, we invite you to discover why MANSION is quickly becoming recognised as a market leader in high-value offerings on professional sport. Be sure to check MANSION Sports Exchange odds before you place your next bet.

Thank you for taking part in this Cash-back offer.

It's only the first time. Mansion is an excellent book. If you're going to do this stuff, you're going to have to get used to it. I provide docs probably 3x/month.

And if not, I know that previous posts about Mansion in this forum mentioned the ID thing.

I know I know it's all part of the game. It just gets to me sometimes.
