After hearing stories about how easy it is to win money through bonuses, my mother would like to learn to play online poker.

I am looking for a site that has frequent bonuses, and also one that has low limit poker, as she is not very good.

Hopefully the bonus' will offset her poker losses, and she can make a small profit.

Any reccomendations as to where she should start?

Thanks

Probably best not to send her to bonuswhores.com /images/graemlins/wink.gif Print out the whoring 101 guide to start her off.

hi gut, bonuses don't really clear unless you get to .25/.50 or thereabouts, so i would just have your mom start playing for play money, then slowly move up in limits, until you're confident that she's a decent player, then when she has a bankroll of a couple hundred bucks she can start the basic bonuses at .25/.50.

OK, I am an older model lady who just started playing in April so I, too, am not very good. I will assume that she is doing this for extra household money and that she really does NOT need to risk booking a loss. My advice is for limit poker, since I don't think a retired lady who doesn't know what she is doing necessarily needs to go all no limit. But it may vary depending on her previous poker experience or natural talent. I have neither of those.

Here is what I did:

1) get the $100 free play from our kind sponsors at PokerSourceOnline for PartyPoker and use it at the lowest beginner's table where rake is counted to earn out the bonus

2) Get a free Neteller account

3) Place $25 of the profit at Poker Stars and practice at the non-raked 2cent/4 cent tables, spend another $25 on Small Stakes Hold 'Em by Miller, et al. -- It won't make any sense to her at first if she has never played poker, but reading a little, then playing, then reading, then playing, things gradually start to stick. Don't get frustrated that you don't have the same learning curve for technical details as you did when younger. You're just pushing pennies around after all.

3) I feel that Paradise is "soft" and should be the first bonus tackled at higher stakes like 25c/50c or 0.5/$1

4) Tackle some of the easiest Prima bonuses such as Grand Bay, being aware that at times Prima has a lot of bonus whores playing. If everyone is playing miserably tight, don't be shy to log off and come back at another time. The loose aggressive players are what you need to make the rake counter spin.

5) Once my "free" bankroll was several hundred dollars, I did some casino whoring -- picking up the easy money at Planetluck, Starluck, Intercasino, and Casino-on-Net. CON takes forever to pay. But they do pay. Will Hill is another that has little to no risk, but I didn't win there and have now been locked out of my account, so I won't recommend it. Other people have picked up free cash there though so she should probably try it. She actually doesn't have to wait to chase these casino bonuses, since when done properly, you can protect your own money from being lost. But, again, especially for CON, don't deposit money that will be needed immediately. It took me over 3 weeks for their check to wander in when I withdrew -- for some reason they wouldn't put it in my Neteller.

6) At this point, she should have a decent-sized bankroll for chasing reloads and RAF bonuses as they come up. I think as long as you don't live with your mom, it's OK to refer her so you both get the RAF bonuses.

This isn't a get rich quick scheme. But it is a way I have found to pick up a couple, few hundred dollars extra a month. I find the texture of the 2c/4c game at Stars is most like the texture of my local live 4/8 game, so she may want to keep practicing at the very low limit if she thinks she may want to try at a casino full of drunks and fairly unskilled players. Variance in the live game will be high though so she needs to pad her bankroll pretty well first. There are still a lot of bonuses I haven't chased but what I've suggested will keep her surprisingly busy for awhile, and she can see how she likes it and whether she feels the extra cash is worth it. Certainly if she enjoys playing, it's well worth it. Always better to have a hobby that pays than a hobby that costs. I may not be understanding properly, but I gather that casino limit games lower than 4/8 probably can't be beaten because of the rake? Never tried any though. I'm very cautious and only want to play if I think I have an edge, such as a bonus.

Tell her good luck for me.

It can be done. I am up $1,600. You college boys with your young flexible brains may laugh, but I think it's pretty good for someone my age who never played a hand of poker of any kind before April.

Ultimate bet is a great site to clear bonuses at the micro limits. My roommate has been playing 2c/4c through 25c/50c there and the bonus has been clearing surprisingly fast at these levels.

I know you were talking about the stakes being higher relative to the 2c/4c but this still made me LOL.
