And I thought he was a 60 year old B&M grinder after reading this...

Le shows QQ and Sass turns over KK. Sass's rail erupts with cheers and his fans scream "Ship it!" several times. THe flop comes down 853 and Sass is still in the lead. The turn is a 9 and Le is down to 1 of 2 Queens left in the deck. The river brings the J and Sass's fans scream "Ship it!!!" several more times. Le is elimianted in 10th place ($21,319) ending play for the night. Players will return tomorrow at 2pm for the final table.

Dude, that was nothing compared to what tomorrow will be like. The shipithollas and their crew will probably get in a brawl with security on national T.V. Anti-hooliganism laws will end up getting passed.

O.K. it won't be that bad but it will be a heck of a lot of fun.

Both players check and the turn is the Aheart. Sass bets $100,000 and Smith raises. Sass pushes in and Smith immediately calls all in turning up 6diamond6spade. Sass shows QheartQspade for top set. Why is Sass re-raising Lester with A 7 off when a guy is all in? Aren't you supposed to cooperate here and try to eliminate a short stack?

The guy is allin UTG for 2 BB. What do you suppose his range is? Why shouldn't Sass isolate with what figures to be by far the better hand, with dead money in the pot from Lester? Besides, if the guy wins the pot, that just keeps a shorty alive that the other players don't want to finish behind, so they can get up the pay ladder, allowing Sass to continue to pwn with his mound o'chips (see above post on raise, fold, fold, fold, repeat as necessary).

Why should Usher care if Turk triples up his micro-stack from atop his tower of chips? Better for him to chase lester off and face Turk with dead money in the pot.

I guess in the late stages of a tournament, I thought it was more important to eliminate players then to isolate. No side pot needed to be created here - if Sass had a better hand, maybe I understand but A 7 is weak.

Now Turk has tripled up and has won another pot and is up to $140K in chips.

If it was anyone but the overwhelming chip leader, I would agree that the raise was bad with A7 there. But Sass has everyone else tripled, like he cares about one elimination? I don't think he's in much danger of finishing 8th. Plus, like I said, the other players that he is pwning will be tighter until players get eliminated. If the chips are 900-200-200-200-200-100-100-100, that is a TREMENDOUS situation for the person with 900. ALL of the other players are in imminent danger. All think, hey I can get 2nd at least for a HUGE increase in $$. This is so much further +EV for him than one elimination at this point.

ravenfan1733
07-24-2006, 07:02 PM
I won't argue with your logic, it sounds reasonable for the monster chip leader although if it were me, I probably would have checked it down.

I'm sure Turk had an orgasm when Sass raised Lester out of the pot and he only had to play 55 against 1 player instead of 2.

Good luck Sass but watch out for Lester!

OK everyone I'm back for a little while before heading to the after-party at the Rhino.

Mostly what I will say at this point is two things:

1.) Alan played amazingly awesome poker.

2.) It was incredibly fun to be there.

The tone was set immediately when the M.C. introduced the players. The first few got polite applause plus a smattering of cheers.

Then Alan got a HUGE ovation with mulitple shouts of "SHIP IT!!!!!" from 20 or so shipithollas and 2+2 crew. The ENTIRE room looks over to see what's going on and why all these young guys in custom-made "shipitholla" baseball caps are making so much noise. It's only the introductions but the tone has been set.

With the exception of a couple of slow stretches, there was lots of action, and some gut-wrenching boards where the dog would hit on the flop and his opponent would redraw on the turn or river.

Plus the still photographer came over to get pictures of our crazy group, and a cardplayer reporter interviewed good2cu about us.

By the end Alan's cheering section was well over 30 strong and louder than ever. Dinner was a murderer's row of STTF stars, current and former.

The second place finish right after dinner was a bit of a letdown but it was a spectacular run and an amazing experience for everyone involved.

Ship. It. Holla.

Ship. It. Holla.

Nice recap Pineapple, and it was a truly awesome thing to see, regardless of the final outcome. Loads of 2ers and STTFers in the room rocking first the bleachers and then the floor. I was most impressed by the one sided cheering section.

It was fantastic meeting Alan and all of you. Stand up performance by Alan, very, very, very impressive.

Well Shipped. More to come from Alan, no doubt.

I'm sorry to be immature, but his name is Alan Sass?!

Like Alan's ass? That's awesome.

After watching a ton of final tables last year and a few this year, I have to say from an objective standpoint the atmosphere there was far more scintillating than anything I've seen there in a non-TV event. It made it even better for me to be there and watch the guy who handed me ass in about 10 minutes at HUC-II play well, catch cards, and basically show off what a badass he can be.

Congrats Allen. Continue shipping it.
