I remember DN saying in that video blog of his prior to the last re-buy "If I have to buy a bracelet I will!"...He's been saying this could be his last event of the WSOP, other than the ME, so he has clearly gone for it! 48 Rebuys, that has to be some record, not sure whether it has worked for him though.

McCrink Doubles Through Morgan
Jim McCrink moves all-in preflop for his remaining $32,000 and is called by Jordan Morgan, who has him covered by about $48,000. Morgan shows pocket Queens and is behind when McCrink flips up pocket Kings. The board comes Aheart8spade5clubJdiamondAclub, improving neither player and doubling up McCrink. McCrink now sits with $64,000, while Morgan's stack is down to $48,200.

On a flop of 10spade7club2diamond, Hasan Habib bets $11,000. Daryn Firicano raises to $40,000, Habib re-raises to $80,000, and Firicano pushes all-in. Habib makes the call and shows 3spade3heart. Firicano shows AheartAdiamond. The turn is the 8club and the river is the 7heart. Firicano doubles up to $210,000 (chip leader), while Habib is down to $67,000.

James Van Alstyne Penalized For Using the "I-Word"
No Limit Hold'em w/ Rebuys
Jul 24, 2006 / 19:19:32 EDT
James Van Alstyne received a ten-minute penalty for saying a certain word -- and it's not the one you'd expect.

Van Alstyne called a tournament director an "idiot," after a controversy arose about a 5K chip in his stack. Nobody else had been colored up to 5Ks yet, but Van Alstyne had a different tournament director color up some of his chips the day before.

Van Alstyne was upset because a controversy was raised and his table was unnecessarily playing shorthanded -- and it could have been solved if someone simply asked him about it at the beginning. That was the situation that led Van Alstyne to call the T.D. an idiot, and he received a 10-minute penalty.

Jennifer Leigh Eliminated in 18th Place ($16,382)
After Tony G raises in middle position and Ryan Hughs pushes all-in on the cut off, Jennifer Leigh is forced to risk her tournament life in the big blind for her last $15,000. Tony G folds, and Hughs shows Aheart10diamond. Leigh turns over 9diamond8club. After a flop of 8diamond7heart5spade, Leigh is in the lead. A Kclub falls on the turn but the Aclub on the river ends her day. As she is walking away David Plastik says "Now the table is ugly." Leigh leaves in 18th place walking away with $16,382.

Anyone else find it strange that Phil has two pairs of headphones on? Although, it's probably less strange then the old man masseuse (or is it masseur?).

[/ QUOTE ]

It is masseur, and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt as a new poster and assume you knew it was Devilfish.

If Hellmuth wins won't it seriously vault him up the player of the year standings? Won't this be his 3rd final table?

[/ QUOTE ]

If Hellmuth wins, he would have the WSOP POY lead by 20 points, if I figured it out right.

I for one hope he wins POY and his 10th bracelet with this tourney. He used to be the guy I loved to hate. Now he's the guy I hate to love to hate, and thus love.

Where do you get the point system from?

BTW, it looks like Madsen is going to cash in the Stud 8/OB event.

Card Player's scoring system (http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/poy_scoring)

Note that for this rebuy tournament, the buyin would be considered about $3,000. Also, making the final table is usually the only way to earn CP POY points.

All,

Based on Daryn's previous consistency in cashing in WPT main events, if he wins this and the ME he will likely overtake Madsen as the greatest tourney player of all time.

They don't televise these things live or anything, but since Phil's in it, I'm sure it'll be on ESPN sometime in the next couple months.

Buffalo Davis
07-25-2006, 03:26 PM
According to ESPN it will not be televised. Maybe they'll have a snippet.

I think that's because last year, they actually televised the event.

If not even the FT makes TV, it'll be different.

Hellmuth luckboxed to KO Cabrera in 6th place.

John Spadavecchia is the short stack on this table, and right now he's on ESPN on the Atlantic City WSOP Circuit Event final table.
