I would guess maybe it is about on par with the $500 monthly tournament on Stars or the $1000 regular tournament at Bellagio. Is this accurate?

no, its not even close to being that tough. more like the weekly 200 on stars.

I don't play the Stars $500 or Bellagio $1k but I'm guessing the level of play is better there.

There were 6k players in the main-event last year and probably 7k-8k this year.
They are not all going to be very good.

First table you can really luck out and really get a favorable line-up. Combo of some idiot-donks combined with some total weak-tights just trying not to wet their pants while they survive the first few levels.

Lots of bad online qualifiers in the main-event obviously.

Everybody and their brother wants to play in this thing.

Happy blind-stealing.

Donk? Donk? Who you calling Donk? I am what I am but man the loopholes in my game are going to really take a few down. I only hope to improve because I do love the game and I do wish to learn, not just be come silly a** kid winning an online tourney.

Um, no one called you a donk? Also what do you have against online players?

I was just paging through Cardplayer's old play-by-play pages of last year's main-event.

Does this tell you anything about the quality of players there?

We are guessing some players need the internet to rule their hands. A player just asked the dealer if when the board puts out 4 of a kind (for example 10-10-10-10-3), if a person's hole Ace plays. The dealer regretably informed the player he can't answer any such question. Was there even poker before the internet? Some players here today may actually wonder such questions."

hopefully not a lineup of weak tights for me.
stealing the blinds is never very profitable early for me.
i guess there are ways to push later in the hand against these types but that sometimes is a dangerous game because they probably have a hand.

having a table of weak tights though is great late in the event.

if the table is full of weak tighties you just take the pot away from them when they miss the flop and fold if they sneeze on the pot. I think having a table full of weak tighties would be a dream at the start. It's almost no risk with the weak tights, but with a donk he could get lucky or actually have a monster when you decide to take a run at him.

Dude, I was just joking. I won my f'ing seat online. I have no issue with online. I was actually being sarcastic because in that big pool of sharks I am, in fact, a fish!

P!ss off with the attitude for no reason.

all,

probably more like a 20/180 instead of the 200.

no the 200 is about right.

My first (and last)table last year was very weak tight.
I was the first person to bust from my table and I lasted 6 hours.
One woman at my table meant to bet 500 but tossed her 5k chip in, Then asked the dealer if she could take it back.
stuff like that. we had 1 dead stack for the first 4 hours.
and 1 guy who would play for 1 orbit then disapear for 50 min.

Peace and goodluck

Last year, 3rd hand at my table, bunch of limpers, flop 663, check to 8 seat, he bets 300, 3 seat calls

Turn 5, Board:6653: 3 seats checks, 8 seat bets 600, 3 seat raises to 2000, 8 seat calls.

River 5: Board: 66553: 3 seats bets 3000, 8 seat thinks calls.

3 seat: J6 suited, 8 seat K3 off suit.

Enjoy!

Seems standard, you have to call some of those donks down with 3 pair.
