In regards to the schedule of the US Senate and this particular Congress I was incorrectly under the impression that they would be in session until the end of October and then they were done. Having read other posts I now realize that is incorrect. Can someone with some Capital Hill knowledge tell me when this Congress meets and when it is in recess. From what i can piece together they will take a break August 4, but come back at some point (in September?) and then be in session until they take a break for elections (what is that date?) and then they will come back after the elections and meet (taking a break for the holidays). So can anyone tell me the last possible date they could pass this bill as well as the exact dates they are in session and the total number of business meeting days they have left?

through further research i realize that there are not exact dates as of yet but they can call an extra session if they want. all that being said, what is the last possible day that this congress and specifically this senate choose to take a vote on this bill?

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has informed the press that he is seeking to get a vote on the gambling bill done by late August. If that happens and the Senate approves the bill, it will go into effect when Bush signs it which should be within a week of passing.

i appologize for having not seen that earlier. am i correct in gathering from this that it is theoretically possible for them to vote even in the "wrap up" period occuring after the elections?
