Has the UK made any statements about the latest turn of events? Surely, they aren't going to sit idly by and let the US government attack its law abiding citizens and its publicly traded companies. Are they?

I was hoping they would have atleast commented on it by now So we could get some sort of idea where they stand.

If their citizens break American laws that is exactly what they will do. What else do you expect?

Ok let's take an example. A US citizen living in the US starts up a proxy server offering service exclusively to Chinese customers, allowing them to access state banned web sites. Said US citizen stops over in Beijing on his way to some vacation. Chinese government stops him and jails him.

What do you think the US gov't response would be?

Exactly.

It sounds like a lot of people in these forums are pretty poorly informed about how the world works.

I certainly expect them to discuss the issue, privately at least. There may well be nothing to say about the pending prosecutions. But that doesn't mean that the conflict in their approaches to internet gambling could not be a subject of negotiation.
