Main event winner 1990: Mansour Matloubi
Main event winner 1991: Brad Daugherty
Main event winner 1992: Hamid Dastmalchi
Main event winner 1994: Russ Hamilton

Usually you will see a short look at some past champions every year (Harrington, Moneymaker, Raymer, Hellmuth etc.)

I have never heard someone mention these guys during the WSOP since their wins. Are they retired?

Russ Hamilton made it semi-deep in the ME last year.

Lifetime tournament cashes over $1.1 million, hasn't cashed in the WSOP since 1991. I'd assume retired?

Lifetime tournament cashes over $1.3 million, and did very well last year in the ME (59th). Also placed 41st at the 2006 PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure!

Daugherty has had alot of back problems.
Dont think he'll make it back to the felt.

March '06 Travel+Leisure article (http://www.travelandleisure.com/tlgolf/articles/golf-the-hustlers) on a $750k golf bet/hustle Russ Hamilton pulled off about a year ago. It's a long-ish article but a good read.

I remember reading in the "The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King" that Hamid once played Andy Beal for the Corporation.

He's the one who played the marathon session where someone left on a stretcher a long time ago, right?

And, if I recall, he's the one that was bombing down drinks while playing Beal?

I think the one drinking was John Hennigan

I think Daugherty is still at the feature table of the PPT going into round four.

He played Ted Forrest heads-up for four days straight at the Mirage.

I believe the quote from Forrest was something to the effect that Hamid smoked over fifty packs of cigarettes and "only lit one match"

What about Noel Furlong the 1999 World Champion?

PokerPunk

Noel recently won a charity event in Dublin, giving his 10 grand winnings back to the charity as well as playing on the Irish team in the Poker Nations Cup in Europe.

He played the Irish Open this year but didn't get near the money.

here's his wiki entry which is pretty accurate:

J. J. "Noel" Furlong (born 25 December in Dublin, Ireland) is a recreational poker player who won the 1999 World Series Of Poker. He originally became a millionaire from his carpet manufacturing business.

Furlong began playing poker in 1984, and in his first trip to the World Series of Poker, he placed 6th in the main event. Ten years later Furlong's biggest win would come in the 1999 WSOP main event, in which he won $1 million.

Until Andrew Black's 5th place finish in the 2005 World Series, he was the top money-winning Irish poker player in the world. As of 2005, Furlong's total live tournament winnings exceed $1,110,000.

Furlong owns a carpet distribution company that does over $100 million worth of business a year. Because of his involvement with the carpet business he doesn't play poker frequently, usually only the WSOP and tournaments in Ireland and western Europe.

Lifetime WSOP cashes over $1 million, and never cashed after his ME win.

I think Daugherty wrote a book with Tom McEvoy and represented Empire poker for a little while.
