I didn't see this posted before and I thought it was a good article illustrating the folly of the nanny state hugging its people to death.

Mary Poppins Gone Mad
By Lisa Fabrizio

excerpt:

"And now, by a vote of 317 to 93, the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that seeks to curb or eliminate the practice of Internet wagering by blocking the use of credit card and wire-transfer transactions. Supporters of the bill call online betting the "crack cocaine" of gambling, an immoral practice that constitutes a threat to "the children." At least we are spared the lament that it targets the middle class or worse, the "poorest among us."

"No, that distinction would be reserved for the kinds of gambling conveniently exempted from the bill; horseracing, domestic casinos, and state-sponsored lottery games. Take a trip as I did last weekend to New York, to enjoy the sport of kings in Queens at beautiful Belmont Park, or to your nearest casino, where you'll be surrounded by real middle-class Americans. But better yet, stroll into your neighborhood convenience store and observe who is spending a goodly part of their paychecks chasing the big bonanzas touted by their own state governments."

As a serious online poker player, I thank you very much for addressing this matter formally in print. I posted it at a famous poker web forum and would appreciate anything else you write or say about our Leviathan gone mad. Why can't these idiots just mind their own business?
Thank you,
Chicago Y.

You shouldn't excerpt an entire copyrighted article but only a shorter excerpt along with a link to same.

Nowadays, with blogs, publications never mind if they're referenced in full. They only mind if you post something that isn't online but print only. This one is at their website

A few years ago publishers took Free Republic to court over this...and got stomped. It's a new age and business in general is appreciated. link (http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=10105)

I don't believe you are correct legally, especially in light of the DMCA. And the question is a legal one, and not whetehr a publisher "minds". 2+2 as a publishing company cares greatly about copyright law and the mods have edited posts in this forum before for that reason, trimming down an excerpt and giving a link. Since you didn't provide a link, they might just remove it.

I think you're being silly as blogs do that all the time. I've run many spectator articles on my blogs over the past few years. It's a new age, but there's no +Ev in not amending it so I will add a link and exerpt it as I don't want to upset your digestion.

I couldn't figure out how to self edit a post so I emailed Ryan. In the future I'll just post a paragraph.
