Brown Thumb
07-30-2005, 11:10 PM
Ok, first of all, I was smoking a lot of P.O.T. yesterday. I went out to get something to eat, and I ended up in Berkeley. After eating, I decided to go play at the Oaks in Emeryville. I had not been there in years.

The place is a total dump now; not that it was every anything special before.

I had $200 and played it up to $600 at 5/10 playing Brown Thumb style. So ... I took it to 10/20.

I played a few orbits and my buzz was wearing off. I looked around and saw that all the other players were Vietnamese. Of course, this was not a problem except for the fact two of them kept talking during the hand and not speaking English. The dealer didn't care.

I didn't care, either because its hard to collude against the Brown Thumb method because either I hit my hand, or I don't.

Anyhow, here it goes.

I take down a pot with 22 that I raised under the gun and two bets back to me ... the guy and his buddy were pumping the pot. I called and my dueces held up when AK did not improve. The other guy folded after I came out betting on the junk flop and the first guy raised. At show down both started laughing at me and calling me names.

after my blinds, I was on the button with 78 Clubs. it was three bets to me because guy number 1 raises and his buddy re-raises. I call, Guy number one caps.

Flop is 456 with two clubs. guy number 1 checks, buddy checks, I bet ... raise, raise. I cap. Both start talking, and call.

Right now, I'm getting pissed and as the turn brings a duece, both start yapping and guy number one bets, guy number 2 raises. I call time and ask for the floor man.

I tell the floor man these guys are pumping the pot and talking to each other during the hand (Hey, I have the nuts, so I want this to be a good burn). The dealer looks the other way, and nobody at the table will confirm my story. I say "f'this" and I raise. I get warned for language.

Guy one calls, guy 2 folds. I ask the floor man to look at his hand. Floor man tells me to calm down and play out the hand.

River is Ace of Hearts, I still have the nuts. Guy 1 checks, I bet, he check-raises (while the other guy starts cackling) I raise, he calls.

I show my strait, he shows AA and says, "you lucky, you get card with trash like that."

I told him that if he sucked his buddy's cock he might get lucky cards.

He jumps up and tries to slap me from across the table, he spills chips and says he will kill me. The floor man jumps in and boots both of us. Security comes and makes me rack up, cash out and go.

Floor man tells me never to come back, because I incited a fight.

I have about a grand and I RUN right to my car and bail out of there before those guys got any ideas.

I made it home and fired up some P.O.T.

Now I remember why I only play online.

I have played live twice since I moved to Florida and both times their ended up being a fight. Luckily each time I remembered to bring the Desert Eagle. I was not involved with the fights so it didn't have to make an appearance, but my hand was on it.

So yea...online poker only.

A guy that was at the game asked if it was a 50 and I looked at him funny. He said they made the gun in 44 auto mag and 50. I had no idea that the gun was being made in 50 caliber.

The Desert Eagle is a giant handgun. I doubt it could be
concealed effectively. I had no idea firearms were welcome in some casinos. Whether you have a permit or not.

Does the gun make you a better poker player, or just a tough guy?

Is the protection neccessary because your stature is such that even the penny slot pulling grannies could kick your ass?

If I had brought this to the casino, would it make me more of a badass than you?

I've run smack into asian players openly colluding at the table twice and both times the staff would say nothing. It is freaking scary to suddenly realize you're in a casino where some of the players are running the crew like their prison bitches. There is a good reason for the dealers and floor staff not willing to intervene...they could be killed. I don't care if you have a SAW and two crates of ammunition, you're making a poor strategic decision by mixing it up with the Viet gangs or the Hong Kong types in some of these casinos. They sometimes control the entire place and they WILL kill you. Just change tables or casinos the moment you see them jabbering in Vietnamese or Cantonese and the staff are not stopping them. You got away with one brother.

Your post is pretty stupid. If I wasnt't smoking P.O.T. right now, I might get mad at you.

In a lot of ways, your insinuation is more offensive than than what you THOUGHT was offensive about mine - in other words, you assume that I can't tell the difference or that I am indifferent to these races of people. In other words, you are accusing me of thinking that "they all look the same."

It really is not that difficult to identify the various Asian races. In this case, they had long, straggly hair, goatees, crooked teeth, and wore sandels and vests.

No, really. The language was a dead give away, dummy. Besides, they did not look either Chinese, Korean, or Japanese ... Also, it helps that just about every time I hear about these types of poker colluders, etc. they are identified as Vietnamese. Who cares, really.

You are right. I definately was not playing 15/30, so it must have been at 6/12. The first game must have been 4/8. Honestly, for some reason, details like that are usually cloudy for me ... once I sit down, they are just chips to play with.

Online, I always start at 3/6 or 5/10; if I win, I go to 10/20 or 15/30. I must have those values ingrained.

BT only mentioned the fact that they were Vietnamese because he believed that they were colluding by telling each other their hole cards WHILE TALKING IN VIETNAMESE. It had nothing to do with him "perpetuating stereotypes" or "being racist"...it had everything to do with him describing the actual situation that unfolded.

Now, maybe they were Laotian or Cambodian or something and BT was mistaken...but who the [censored] cares? It's like if I heard players colluding in what I though was Norwegian, but it turned out to be Swedish.
