I've only been to vegas once, and had an absolute blast. But we didn't know enough about the clubs, nightlife, etc. and getting into some of these bars/clubs is [censored] ridiculous (ex. Light on Sunday nights at Bellagio). Couldn't even pay off the bouncer.

I know you can prepay for passes online, and probably once in vegas, if you have a schedule of where you are going to go on a specific night. So basically, I'm asking for suggestions on the most effective way to plan my nights...

Any help from you 20 something party animal 2+2'ers would be appreciated...the ME isn't the priority of this trip /images/graemlins/cool.gif

The plan is super-simple at all but the most exclusive clubs:

Go early.
Dress well.
Hang out until the action starts.

Otherwise if you are with a large group (4+) bottle service/reserved table is highly +EV despite the high initial up-front cost.

Showing up randomly at 10:45 PM with 5 other dudes is highly -EV.

Whats the deal with buying bottles/reserved table? Price, how early 4 dudes would need to get there? Thanks for the help.

buying bottles and getting a table is the way to go.

You don't wait,
You get your own waitress
You don't pay cover, you just pay for the table. Worth it.

How much does bottle service usually run?

palman
07-18-2006, 02:53 AM
400/bottle 20% grat included. Gona wana give your Host (dude who walks you to the table), the bus guy, and the head security guy 50-100 as well.

All told, go with a couple of guys and it'll be $300-400 person, whereas to drink the same amount it'll cost ya $150-200. Add in the hour or two you save outside, and the time taken to get your drinks from the bar, and it's worth it. Just go up to the front at like 9:30 and say you want to get a table, come back at around 10 and you should only have to wait 0-15 minutes.

Totally depends on venue/night. $200-$800. Call ahead and plan appropriately. Post for ballas to join you at the more exclusive places.

I have lived in Vegas for a couple years now and would love to help out my fellow 2+2'ers. A bunch of my friends out here are hosts that are very well connected in town and can get discounts on table service, VIP access virtually anywhere, etc. etc.

send me a PM with the dates you will be in town and some sort of contact info and I will hook you up.

This is probably closer to correct, as most people will be there for at least a week during the ME.

Definitely try Tryst (Wynn)

Cover charge
guys $40
girls $30

However, go to E-Bay and purchase VIP passes for a few bucks. The club itself is amazing! Fun music and good looking people. The drinks are incredibly pricey so you're better off ordering bottle service! I'd recommend getting there early. Although it's cool to go out late, it's well worth not having to wait in a line.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it will only get you admittance but $40 x 5 guys and you're half way home to purchasing your first bottle. We got there VERY early (around 9 pm) and avoided the line completely however when we left at 1 am the place was jumping and the line was very very long. I've been to Studio 54 (MGM), Rum Jungle (Mandalay Bay), Ghost Bar (Palms) and as far as total experience Tryst was just as good as these clubs.

GambleGamble

Tryst on Fri/Sat/Sun is 1 bottle for every 3 people, and I recommend you call ahead. Call the Wynn and ask and they should put you through, Ive never done it right before hand.

Same with Light, some tables have certain minimums...for example a table on the dance floor at light is 3 bottles minimum, but at the table we got 5bottles at we could seat 10 comfortabley.

I recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a nightclub experience to definatley get a table, nothing worse than wading through a couple hundred hot and sweaty mix of people trying to get a $12 drink.

Dont go clubbing if you are cheap
2 jager bombs, double capn on the rocks, and 3 capn diets cost $80 plus tip.

You will run into girls who are "working" in the club, careful who you buy crap for.

Many clubs you can call ahead and get a line pass if you are staying at the casino which houses the club, you will still have to pay the cover though.

And nothing is better than walking back a giant crowd of people trying to get into a club thats twice as crowded as the line, and seeing everyone staring at you. You will feel like you are on the red carpet.

This among other reasons is why I wont be stepping foot in a club while I am in Vegas. They are quite possibly the most pathetic gathering of people on the face of the Earth, just trying to get their genitals touched. Anyhoo... I will be very down for getting drunk in real bars with real drinks, but adios if everyone is planning on "clubbing."

Jurollo,

For those looking for a decent place to just hang out and drink I suggest the Rainbow Room (not gay) which is directly across from the HardRock Casino and next to Club Paradise (strip club) its a decent locals hang out but decent looking people.

It does get fairly crowded at times but there is a patio and you dont need to get a bottle to sit down.

Bottles are also cheaper $200 or so for a bottle of Captain as opposed to $400.

And the Hard Rocks Circle Bar is the best place to just hang out if you want to be in a casino and drink.

What I mean is some place where:

- the ratio of hos/legit women is <<1

- a small group (say three guys) can get in easy

Justin, I agree completely. We'll get a beer at Tilted Kilt some time. 8-14 TVs with all the baseball games and waitresses walking around with practically nothing on. That's all I need from a bar.

That said, I would be curious to experience the club once, but I'm sure I would want to leave after 10 minutes, so I probably won't.

I will start organizing this with my friend who is a VIP host at Palms and we can get something together. Give me an approximate head count and a few of the places you would really like to go. Anywhere at Palms is preferrable since that would be the least hassle (ie ghostbar, rain, etc.) but we can get a group in anywhere in town if you would rather meet somewhere else. I'm thinking a group of 25-30 for about $150 to $200 a person could have an amazing night. Anyone who wants more details or would like to set up something smaller feel free to PM me.

Rain at Palms is da nutz BTW, great multi-level layout, unbelievable light show including moving cranes, smoke, flamethrowers (literally), amazing DJs no energy drop all night, decent M/F ratio when I was there, not too many hookers from what I could tell, friendly women, etc., etc. My crew decided to jet at 1:30 but I ended up staying until after 4 AM because it was so much fun, dancing/making out with random chicks, and the party was still going strong when I stumbled out.

As for the club vs. bar debate, I def. think clubs are the high-risk/high-reward option. If the crowd and the energy are good it is amazing. If not, you feel like a dckhead for wasting your money/time.

Yeah, Voodoo Lounge on the roof of the Rio is another good choice, fun but not as intense, plus you are already there for the WSOP.

There's a somewhat pricey but nice restaurant there, and you can sit at one of the two inside bars for a while if you don't feel like buying a bottle/table at the outside bar.

The drinks are reasonably priced and easy to get. There will be some hookers but also some local gals and tourists. There's dance music but you can actually talk to people also.

Go up there for a drink around dinner time and ask them to stamp your wrist after you take the elevator back down. That will save you the $20 later plus you can skip the line. Just don't abuse it with like 20 guys please. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Okay, I have a dumb question from a non-american. What is "a bottle" and why does it cost between 200-400$? Champagne is insanely gay, if that is what you're talking about. Does no one drink whiskey in the US?

Where do you go if do not want to pay 400$ for anything that doesn't at least involve a happy ending, let alone the privelage to drink some stupid bubbling wine and pink drinks with stuff that ends with barries?

eg Grey Goose vodka and mixers, I'm sure other choices are available. The $ includes no cover charge, waitress service, no wait in line out front, seats, VIP treatment, no fighting your way to the bar, etc. You're paying for a more pleasant experience primarily, not for the alcohol.

If it's not worth it to you, don't do it. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif There are suggestions for other clubs/bars if you read this thread.

You are correct that your average American dude is not going to be a great fit for your average Vegas club.

I've never bought a drink for a chick in Vegas FWIW.

It's idiotic to go expecting to get actually physically laid, this rarely happens even for the bestest mack, makeout sessions and getting phone numbers is typically the limit. If you want to get laid get it from a pro, they are everywhere.

I like dive-bars quite a bit. Plenty to choose from in Memphis.

I'm okay with clubs as well although I'm a bit old for that now.

There actually IS an area in-between the "clubs with bottle-service and/or $40 cover" and "total dive or borderline biker-bars".
There are such things as 'clubs' that don't have bottle-service or $40 covers.

Just regular $10 or $15 covers or something. Big lights and dance-floors that are just packed and awesome, etc etc.

But it seems that when one refers to 'clubs' in Vegas one is pretty much talking about "if you don't skip the line and get bottle-service you suck" type of clubs.

Admittedly, I'm a bit of an uncultured, midwestern hick so the whole NY/LA/Vegas club-scene and such stuff as 'bottle-service for your own table' (much less greasing a bouncer's palm) is not something I'm used to.

I actually don't mind the club scene personally, just had a thing about raptor's post (that who the comment you quoted was aimed at).

To be honest, I have a slight feeling the club scene I used to be a part of when I was younger here as slightly more developed here and in europe than over there. Meaning, the main issue was actually the DJ (then getting laid, of course, in 2nd).

I've been to parties with the best DJ's in the world, never have I even heard about spending so much money on a single night. If it's a major guy coming to play, I can see paying up to 50$ cover and 50$ on drinks etc. Over 100$ is just Vegas ripping you off.

A couple of the premium clubs (Tao, Pure) won't even let you reserve a table if your party is over 50% dudes. Basically if you're a group of guys you're assed out unless you're hooked up. That's pretty much a vegas club reality.

I definitely don't think the "clubbing" scene in Vegas will be for me. Just too much of the Tennessee redneck for that.

MicroBob

I don't really consider Memphis part of the midwest either but it's kind of close enough for me just for this particular point (middle USA clubbing vs. NY/LA/Vegas)

I grew up in the Cincinnati area and have only lived in Memphis for 3+ years.

My more northernish accent sticks out big-time down here and almost anyone can tell I'm not originally from the area.

Have been here since the start of the WSOP, and I'd say that Tao at the Venetian was my favorite place so far. They have two huge dance rooms upstairs and a lounge downstairs if you just want to sit down and relax. Several of the bigger clubs don't have a place to sit down unless you get the bottle service, and judging by many of the anti-club type posts in here I doubt you'd like that.

A few tips:

-Get drunk at home or in the card room for free before you come. Much, much cheaper that way.

-IMO, bottle service was overrated. Sure its somewhat cool to be able to invite girls back to your VIP area, but I ended up spending most of the time walking around the clubs anyway rather than sitting in your area. And you can sometimes find a group of girls who got bottle service and just try to get invited in by them.

-$100 to the bouncer should be good enough to get you into any place ASAP. If you don't want to do this get there by 9:30(if it opens at 10:00).

-If possible, have girls in your group. If you don't, and you see a group of girls waiting in line, then its a very easy way to meet girls by explaining to them how hard it is for guys to get in alone and tell them you'll by them all a drink if you can walk it together....now you get in quickly and you immediately have some girls to hit on...win-win situation there.

-Dress nicely. This should be obvious, but I've seen quite a few people turned away. Collared shirt, black/brown dress shoes, jeans or dress pants.

-There are guys walking the strip that have tons of VIP tickets to every single place. The guy I talked to said that they were free but he "worked on tips." I didn't totally believe him, so I only gave him $20 for a ton of free passes...ended up being great money spent as they all worked fine and I saved over $100 in entry fees. I would have no problem tipping even more next time.
