kinda tricky to explain, but they're doing this thing called "round for round" on the bubble -- so each table plays an orbit, then stops.

anyway if more than one person is eliminated during the bubble then they each get a percentage of the prize. does that make any sense? i think it's been explained elsewhere in a less convoluted manner.

Thanks for the support, guys. As my brother just told me, I am good enough to be here, but luck and chance got me here. I am good enough to win, but it will take luck and chance as well. My only stated goal this year has been to win a bracelet in a limit event. So far it has been one disappointment after another. I've played and luckboxed my way into a position to accomplish that goal. I hope that I don't play myself out of this. There are 3 other VERY strong players at the table, and 3 more who know what they are doing. That leaves only 2 weak spots. At times like these I wonder where my supposed edge comes from (and if it actually exists). But this is a great opportunity and an awesome experience. It sounds like a big group of friends, including some 2p2ers I've just recently met, will be there to cheer me on. I really appreciate this. I also have family members following intently on Cardplayer, hitting the refresh button every two minutes. I will do my best not to mess ths up, but I will also take every opportunity that I see, relying on my infamous "reads".

MicroBob

Given that this is no longer in the MTT Community forum, the title should probably be changed to reflect that Newhizzle and IanJ are also in this FT, as is some fellow named Jerrod who apparently has posted here a few times.

Moving threads to a forum where the same thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=6563661&an=0&page=0#Post 6563661) already exists seems a bit silly if you're going to leave both threads alive.

Valuetown?

From middle position, Mark Newhouse raises to $10,000 and is re-raised by Javier Torresola. From the button, Brendan Taylor calls and Newhouse folds. The flop comes Kheart7heart6diamond. Torresola leads out with $5,000, Taylor raises to $10,000, and Torresola calls. The turn is the 10diamond, Torresola checks, Tayor bets $10,000 and Torresola calls. The river is the Qdiamond, which induces a check from Torresola, a bet from Taylor, and a call. Taylor flips his cards over to show 6spade6club for a set of 6's. Torresola mucks as Taylor climbs to $230,000, and the chip lead.

With 4club4spade vs. 10club10heart, Theo Tran's chances didn't look so good. Luckily, after a flop of Qspade7spadeclub3spade, Tran caught running Spades to double up to $60,000, while Ian Johns dropped to $160,000.

its possible csc capped and newhizzle folded for 2 bets but thats doubtful as well.

Ben "Kid Rock" Robinson Eliminated
Under the gun, Ian Johns raises to $12,000 and from the big blind, Ben Robinson, bizarro "Kid Rock," calls. The flop brings Aspade9spade4spade and Robinson leads out with $6,000. Ian raises to $12,000 and Ben calls, which puts him all-in. Ben shows AclubJspade and Ian, much to Ben's chagrin, exposes AdiamondQdiamond. The turn and river are no help to Robinson, and he exits in 8th place taking home $28,235.

New Chip Leader
From late position, Jarrod raises to $12,000, Mark Newhouse re-raises to $18,000 from the small blind, and Jarrod calls. The flop is Q62, Mark leads out with $6,000 and Jarrod calls. The 4 comes on the turn, Mark bets $12,000 and Jarrod calls. The river brings the 9 and both players check. Jarrod shows pocket 8's and Mark folds. Jarrod has taken the chip lead with $275,000.

Jurgens Almost Triples-Up
Tad Jurgens raises to $12,000 from middle position and Ian Johns re-raises to $18,000 from the button. Javier Torresola calls in the small blind and Jarrod Ankenman folds in the big blind. Tad then raises again to $24,000 and both Ian and Javier call. The flop comes QdiamondJspade5heart and Tad leads out with his remaining $3,000. Ian calls and Jarrod folds. Tad shows AdiamondAheart to Ian's KspadeQheart. The turn and river were running 4's and Tad nearly tripled up to $84,000.

Ok I think they meant Javier folded here but still that doesn't make any sense. Did he fold on the flop getting 26-1 ? Do the people doing these updates even play poker? How can they not realize how nonsensical some of the action they present is?

Javier Torresola raises from the small blind and Jerrod Ankenmen calls from the big blind. The flop comes 7diamond4spade3heart and Torresola bets out $4,000. Ankenman calls and the Jdiamond comes on the turn. Both players check and the river brings the Jspade and Torresola bets $8,000, Ankenman calls . Torresola shows QclubJclub and Ankenman mucks. Torresola jumps up to $169,000 after the pot.

Hmm, He should probably bet $8000 cause they're playing 8k-16k right now. Is card player even trying?

I don't think its about the $$$ at this point. I hate busting out of any tourney. It SUCKS. Busting out of a tourney sucks. Busting out early sucks. Busting out on the bubble sucks. the 66 hand mark didn't open, the guy to his left did, csc 3bet the button with 66, sb capped and opener folded. flop was K76 and csc raised sb's bet and sb called down from there.

they missed the big hand, ian opens co, csc 3bets, ian calls. Flop KT4 2 spades, ian c/r and csc calls. Turn is a ten and I think it was a spade. ian checks, csc bets, ian c/r, csc 3bets, ian 4bets, csc folded.

edit - this ft wasn't even on the stage, just a table by the stage. Stage is reserved for hellmuth's donkfest.

Newhouse re-raises all-in and Johns calls. Newhouse shows 5club4diamond and Johns turns over 10heart7club. Interesting. just started a new thread for Jerrod and Ian. Someone removed it. I would be interested in knowing 1. Who did that and 2. Why? There was nothing offensive in it and it did appear only to disappear.
Who is Javier? that is the question I raised.

Ian Johns Takes a Pot
Limit Hold'em
Jul 17, 2006 / 21:12:16 EDT
Theo Tran raised to 16K, Ian Johns called from the small blind, and Javier Torresola called from the big blind. The flop came A/images/graemlins/diamond.gifJ/images/graemlins/heart.gifT/images/graemlins/spade.gif, and everyone checked. The turn card was the J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, Johns bet 16K, Torresola called, and Tran folded. The river card was the 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, and both players check. They showed:

Ian Johns K/images/graemlins/spade.gifQ/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Javier Torresola ??

Johns won the pot with a flopped A-high straight. Tran claimed he folded 99 on the turn, and he would have made a full house on the river.

so i finished 5th and got unstuck for the trip today, at the dinner break, Ian had a monster chip lead, so hopefully he can take this down

i somehow accumulated a group of fans that i didnt know, one guy was at one of my earlier tables and is apparently some name pro, and his friend, who kept telling me, "number 1, no number 2, must be 1" and some random guy that looked like a bum who was apparently from durham, nc(like right next to my home town), they were cheering me on as well as a few 2+2ers

after i got busted the friend of the guy who was at my table earlier followed me to the cage and after i got my chips, he said, "so, you will put me in the tourney tomorrow right?" and im like who the [censored] is this guy? the bum looking guy ended up helping get him off my back, it was weird

anyway, this was really fun, congrats to brendan also, and gl ian, win this [censored]!

Ian Johns Wins the $3,000 Limit Hold'em Event

Ian Johns raises preflop and Jerrod Ankenmen calls. The flop comes 9spade5club2heart. Johns bets and Ankenmen calls. The turn is the 3club, and Johns check-raises Ankenmen. The river brings the Aheart and Johns puts Ankenmen all-in. Ankenmen makes the call and mucks when Johns shows Aspade3diamond for two pair and the bracelet. Jerrod Ankenmen is eliminated in 2nd place and earns $150,586.

Looks like Ian may have caught a pretty good run of cards at the end - he started down 900K to 100K (or got there fairly early on once it was down to HU.) Doubling up 3 times certainly helps though.

Congrats IanJ!

First of all, congrats to Ian. He seems like a great guy and I am happy for him and his wife. Also, sad congrats to Mark. Mark and I had been at the same tables for much of Day 2, and he is a hell of a player and also a really nice guy. I wish he could have placed higher, but like 7th, 5th is nothing to sneeze at, but I'm sure it hurts just as much. I am very disappointed. This felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity and I blew it. Hopefully this will not turn out to be the case. On to a couple of hands....

CP got this one wrong:
Shortstacked Tran in seat 4 opens, I 3bet 66 from the button, SB Javier 4bets, Tran folds, I call. They got the rest of the hand correct - I raise the flop of k76 and get a bet on every street.

This is THE key hand:
Ian opens in MP, I 3bet 55, he calls. This hand had the backdrop of Ian complaining to me that I 3bet him too much. I was anticipating him playing back at me. The flop is KT4. check, I bet, he raises, I call (looking to raise the turn). Turn is another T, he checks (???), I bet, he raises, I tank and 3bet (thinking this is a better line than calling down as he likely folds 66-99 now - I'd check behind on the river if he calls here). He 4bets. It is quite clear that I am beat now - this wasn't a bluff attempt as I had anticipated, he flopped goot. I muck, and pass 1/3rd of my stack to Ian.

I... don't know about that hand. I could have folded PF. It is close. After the PF... I have to say I like the way I played it. I could have just believed him, but I just expected him to playback at me this hand, so I couldn't believe him. I just don't know.

After that, it was just 3 2nd bests in a row. BLAH!!! Thanks to everyone that came out to sweat me, Paul, Jameson, Jimmy, KT, Nick, Jeff, Mark, Carl, Patrick, Matt, Shawn, and I'm probably forgetting someone.... Thanks to those who followed here and wished me well, and thanks to my family.
