Greetings,

I am a video poker enthusiast who unfortunately lives in Minnesota. The machines in this state generally have pitiful payback percentages. That being said, some are better than others. However, nothing approximates what I've seen in Las Vegas (like 10/6/4 DDB with progressive or 10/7/5 DB with progressive).

I heard it rumored there is a state law that no machine can pay back more than 98%. This may be true based on what I've seen. The best machine I have came across on quarters is 9/6/5 Double Bonus at Mystic Lake. This pays back 97.9%. I have also seen 9/5/4 Double Double Bonus on dollars. The best machine I've seen here is dollar Double Bonus 9/6/5 with progressive. This clearly violates state law as the current jackpot is around 6K (assuming the 98% ceiling is true).

Anyways, I basically am using a comp card and playing the 97.9% Double Bonus quarter game. I play video poker exclusively at Mystic Lake as it is the closest casino offering it. I would be willing to try other casinos in Minnesota provided they had better payback. Given what I've heard about the state law, I wonder if this is possible.

Does anybody know of any casinos (like Treasure, Grand Casino, Jackpot Junction, Blackbear) in this state that have 98% or better machines? I have a good friend who lives in Missouri and he plays 100% and greater All-American and others. That is just too far of a drive for me. I would be willing to drive to Wisconsin as well or the northern part of Iowa. As it stands, the only decent machine I've found is the dollar 9/6/5 DB with progressive that I mentioned earlier. Any feedback, comments, leads, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

the vpFREE database for the midwest doesn't even track any casinos in minnesota, so I'd have to presume it's not worth it. there is some okay stuff in wisconsin and iowa if you're close enough to those borders.
