Simple question, would you defend your BB with Q9o from a blind steal from the small blind? Villain is a decent TAG with an attn. to blind steal of 24%.

probably usually.

Attempted to steal blind is a stat that doesn't tell you all that much about Sb v. Bb play.

Q9 usually has two live cards against Sb, and usually isn't two undercards. And you have position. And you hopefully can outplay Sb post-flop. Hence you should usually play this.

Using that reasoning you could play any 2?

Not quite any two, but certainly almost any two would be correct. 3 to 1 on your money with position.

Kind of, yes... You should be defending your BB against Sb steals quite liberally.

No. But that's just me. I would do it with Q 10 though.... So I guess Q9 can't be that bad.

If you feel that he is on the steal you cant call here. You need to RR and if he checks the flop you need to bet and be prepared to 3 bet if he in fact check raises you and then bet the turn if he checks and if he doesn't go by then surrender. If you are going to defend you have to know that it may cost you a good bit to defend if he doesnt go quietly!

Notice his reasoning included not being two undercards.

Also of note is that if Q9 pairs either card the Q will probably be top pair and the 9 will probably be middle or top pair, any of which is a great hand HU.

Generally no, unless he's pretty waek postflop. It's maginal at best to a 24% steal.

Edit: I'm an idiot, I thought this was a button steal. Against the SB, I'm playing this most of the time.

This is an easy, and I mean EASY defense in this situation.

This is spewing in my opinion. You just can't get this aggressive vs a reasonable TAG (with not much of a hand) or you're going to get murdered

I agree but if you are going to defend against what you think is a SB steal then you need to put the pressure back on the SB he doesnt know that you dont have a hand. If you are going to defend you cant just play tough preflop and then wimp out on the flop. I saw you do that I'd pick on you all night long. At least while he may be behind he makes a point that he wont be picked on and gets him some breathing room to maneuver in later hands. This wouldnt be a value play here if I was behind it would be simply to prove a point if not you leave your self open to be the whipping boy all night long.

Q9o is a monster relative to the range I play in this situation.
