Here is a link to humorous want add for a philosophy professor. It doesn't quite fit the forum, but it does give some insight into how professional philosophers think about their jobs, especially when relegated to universities without good students. When I was thinking about leaving a respected philosophy Ph.D. program to attend law school, a well known philosopher advised me that it was probably be a good idea, because new Ph.D.'s were lucky to get a job at "East Jesus State University." I found this funny, especially given the stature of the source.
