NBA and MLK

Another board that I frequent had a thread about MLK, and the NBA. In it, it said some things along the lines of, since the NBA plays on MLK and most players are black, that there is resentment for having to play and to bet the under since players arent playing as hard etc. whats the deal with this? At first glance I just dismissed it as racist, but then I read a quip my Allen Iverson saying that he does resent having to work on MLK day etc. ?????????????

in the past few years i have made a disgusting amount of money on unders (1st quarter, 1st half and game) - could be true, i find the earlier the game on MLK day the better for this

This angle has been around for a long time. More of a factor than resentment about having to work is the rarity of playing a Monday afternoon game. The players' bodies are out of rhythm, which could result in fewer points.

Whatever the reason, I'm pretty sure the 'under' in the MLK early games has done very well for the past several years.
