I don't understand the question... Assuming the religion is valid, how can it ever cease to exist?

As in all people in the world ( excpet you i suppose) stop following the tenents of the faith stop believing in your God etc.

eg for christians noone would know who jesus was there'd be no copies of the bible etc. would you be prepared to die to prevent this?

Gotcha. That was a little vague. Really what you're asking is: Would you be willing to be a savior? Assuming people who don't know Jesus can never get into heaven, you would therefore be saving all future souls, right? I don't see how any Christian could answer no to this question.

To put the ideal before the individual is a clear mistake which derives from flawed reasoning and a stupid set of moral beliefs.

However, I don't think that's the case with people who choose n` 1. I just think they're screwed up enough to believe that is better for them than n` 2.
